What to clean with

I need some help I have a Harley Tri-Glide Black in color. What do I clean the fiberglass with?

I have a yellow Goldwing, and I clean mine with clear water and a microfiber cloth. Wet the bike, wipe it down with a wet microfiber cloth, and then rinse with clear water. Gets all the bugs off, all the road tar, etc. Just don't use soap on a microfiber cloth, and when you wash it, don't use fabric softener. If you do either, it will never be the same. YMMV

Either Pledge or Plexus. Works like a charm. The thing is, once you have a good base of wax on it, you never wash it off with the microfiber cloth and no soap. If you do use soap, you will likely wash off the wax. So then you need to rewax it. I just need something to put a little shine back on it.

A 1200psi pressure washer with Turtle Wax car wash and wax. In between I use either Turtle Wax instant shine or McGuire's instant detailer. Two Tri-Glides, one Lava Red Sunglo, the other Merlot. Pledge works great on lighter colors, but tends to streak on darker ones. McGuire's is more silicon than wax and also tends to streak on darker colors. I've always had better luck with the Turtle Wax.

But, I have no life, don't work, and spend way too much time dinking with the trikes and cars.

Professional detailer here and I use Plexus for the tri-glides plastic surfaces. I follow with Menzerna polish and finish with Menzerna full molecular jacket. which protects from UV and salt air. Plexus is the only product I will use on regular motorcycle windshields as well.

There's a black tri-glide I've done in the pictures section in the facebook link. The Auto Glym instant detailer spray gives it a nice shine between cleanings and repels water nicely!

Oh, two more detailing tips....never, ever use a pressure washer or a leaf blower to work on cleaning your bike. A normal garden hose with a fire mans' nozzle and a proper motorcycle dryer is a much safer bet. Harley paint is of a good quality, but even the best paints may not stand up to pressure washers and leaf blowers.

I have used leaf blower on mine for a couple years with no issues. Remember that the fiberglass parts are painted with automotive base coat clearcoat system. Thus care for painted surfaces would be same as an automotive surfaces.
So, if i works on your Lamborgini it should be ok for your trike !

I've been detailing all of our trikes and bikes for 6 years now, I consider it my therapy and actually enjoy it. When we convert a customer's trike it always adds that WOW factor. We've tried it all and we've not found anything that works as well as the Ultra Luster products.

I have never tried it but i hear a LOT of people rave about the all purpose (blue can) Pledge.
I use Peroxide to spray it down to get the bugs off and McQuires paste wax

the fiberglass is not gel coat but automotive base coat clear coat paint---proably better if maintained as you woud your automobile surfaces.

Deb I have been using Wizards " Mist-N-Shine" for Motorcycles with a micro-fiber cloth on my vivid black harley. It's a spray on detailer that is wonderful. I have used it on paint,chrome,and windshields. Great for getting dried bugs off stock and aftermarket windshields. Leaves a smooth slick shine. Contains NO wax,petroleum,or silicone.

The only thing that touches my Bike and Trike is "The BOM" (Best Overall Method) a.k.a. "Captain Richard's Best", and for metal I use their "BOMS Away".

I normally get it from the yearly Bike show in my area, but it can also be purchased on line.

Lucky - there is division of labor around here, LOL....fortunately, cleaning/polishing is one of my preferred 'chores'. it puts me in neutral - away from all the external stressors. there are several areas in your life that you can't control but with cleaning, i get instant gratification - and that's a good feeling!

My brother in law and I who between us have tried about everything on the market, both agree that Capt. Richards is the best fast job so far and that Liquid Glass is about the best wax.

after a good coat of wax first thing in the spring, I just use Pledge the rest of the time ( on everything except the engine) bugs just wipe right off
