Default What shocks are you using on your triglide

I'm just curious what everybody is running for shocks on their triglide, I'm still running the air shocks on my 2018. Have seen a few that are still running air shocks and now they have the coil over shocks and some are happy with these.

So what are you using for a shock and what brand and why that brand???

Still using air shock or coil over from harley say so, just curious????

I know my 2002 road king rode really good with the air shocks, my 2016 and 2018 triglides rode so so. Just curious since harley has been using air shocks for many years I wonder it the triglide shocks are the same as what they use on touring bike, if so I can see why the ride is not as good, not a stong enough shock IMHO for the weight of a triglide.

I have check in with DK on their next gen shocks and good reviews, have also check into the super shox, not sure about this they said I need the 14.5 shock for a good ride, the only trouble is I have to buy another s pipe from them for it to work and I can't use my lift kit from DK that have on it now, would have to go back to stock bracket, also I have to cut some pipe off to get it to work, sounds like to much work IMHO and then from what I have read it is only a 3 inch travel on a 14.5 shock form super shox, might be a good ride and maybe not.

    All for now Trampas

P.S. can't wait to see the replies on what everyone is running and why

I ride a Freewheeler so you may not even consider my opinion, but unless you pack a heavy load, they should be very similar.

Now to be fair, my budget has seldom allowed me to get the “very best” of things. My selections are based on bang-for-the-buck.

I installed the Bitubo twin adjustables about three years ago. They are a big improvement and I have no complaints.

From what I have read, there are better shocks out there (at about twice the price).

I’m running the 14” ProAction shocks.

These will be “dialed in” from them to fit your riding (weight & 1 vs 2-up) but you can still easily make adjustments to further enhance the ProAction shocks.

DK Customs also pushed the ProAction quite a bit before they came out with their NexGen shocks. These are GREAT shocks and I have had them on my previous bikes too. A total game changer, for sure!

Made in the USA in Beaver Falls, PA.

You’re going to hear many other companies mentioned …. most are indeed a huge improvement over the stock shocks.

I had Bitubo Shocks with lift kit on my 16 Tri Glide, big improvement

On my 20 Tri Glide I have lift kit and 14" Pro Action, significant improvement.

If I was to do it again, I probably go with DK Customs NexGen 14" with lift kit.

Had the 14" Pro-Action with DK's comfort lift kit on my 2018 TG. Much improved over the stock air shocks. But DK designed, worked, modified and adjusted various designs to get their NexGen shocks. That is what I put on my 2020 TG and now just got a new set on my 2024 TG. Having ridden both the Pro-Action and the NexGen I can say imo the NexGen is superior. Based on Kevin's recommendation I went with the 13" and the convertible comfort lift. Kevin told me the amount of travel on the 13" is the same as it is on the 14". He can explain why much better than I can. It did lift the rear of the TG about 1 1/8" to 1 1/4" from stock and I'm very happy with that.

I've not ridden the SuperShox and I'm sure it is a fine product. But for my $$ and the fact Kevin is a great resource for the forum and a also a personal friend the choice for me was simple and I am very happy with the results.

BTW I also just installed the DK intimidators in the front forks. I've only ridden them about 100 miles but I can definitely tell an improvement.

DK Custom 14" Nextgen shocks and lift kit.

Replaced the air shocks with them.

Best money I have spent on my 17 TG.

At the moment on 2015 TGU the Legend AIR-A Trike, much better than the original shocks. The Air suspension helped me to survive the Scottland Ride, bit they are pretty hard. With the next maintenance I change to Wilbers

    Default Shocks

Legends lift kit . Legends cartridges up front, Legends Revo As on the rear . Very happy with the choice but not a cheap proposition. Worth every penny - smooth ride, easy steering steady at 90 mph.

    Default Nex Gen shocks

For me I decided to go with the DK Customs Nex Gen shocks and already had installed the rear lift kit like I had my my previous trike. With that said both were great improvement on handling and the ride. The Nex Gen shocks were already set up however I wanted to experiment a little to see if changing setting makes any difference. Generally I ride solo so changing setting rode a little firmer. Only down side is having to adjust the setting from the top of the shock....just my 2cents.

I too will be looking at the Super Shocks. As you mentioned, 4 good reasons.

This company has been working with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars for many years with great success. The suspensions on these cars go through hell on the tracks. Sammy Swindell has them on his cars as well as others.

Trampas... There is nothing wrong with running stock shocks. I ran stock for four years and they gave me great service, handling and comfort, once adjusted correctly. I read all the great things about these expensive shocks so I figured if I could improve things I'll spend the money. To be honest I see very little difference in the expensive shocks over stock. And yes, they are adjusted correctly. I found the same with tires. I have tried big name expensive tires and good quality less expensive tires on the rear. Again very little difference in ride or handling. These are motorcycles, they are not going to ride like a car. IRS would help but there is only so much you can do. What you just read is MY OPINION. If people reading this disagree please continue to do things the way you are now. I'm not looking for a ration of shit.
