Has anyone tried the HD Paint Guard Kit p/n 83989-10 on their trike? It is 12 pieces of clear plastic film that goes on the fenders and side covers to prevent boot marks and scratches.

I picked them up last night and was checking to see if anyone had any pros or cons about them. I hate to put them on that great paint, but figure scratches etc. will be a lot worse.

I havent tried it, nor will I. I made my own guards. But since the clear paint that HD uses will scratch if your have dust between your finger tip and the surface. It be a good idea for you to cover those surfaces. Especially if the paint has any pearl characteristics to it. You can't match pearl. The entire panel would need to be repainted. I dont know about road grit chipping the side panels. But the fenders do take a beating.

wish I had know something like that was available last year. I'm always cleaNing my scuff marks off. Lots of little chips already also.

I looked at this product and decided life doesn't need to be that complex! I drove my new trike to a shop that has done clear bra work on my buisness trucks and told him to clear bra the fenders from bottom up 21". They work great. They scuff but it buffs out of the clear bra and beats having to repaint these fenders every 2 years.

Scarface

PS: Cost me $72 for both fenders.

Yes, I had this product on our 2010 triglide.

I HATED THEM!!!!

The product is softer than clear coat so the boot scuff that you can wipe off your paint and clearcoat will not wipe off the 3-m product. Even the slightest bump with your boot leaves an ugly mark that will not come off.

I would never use them again.

Is that a nickle's worth?
