I passed out some TT cards to a couple of Stallion owners in Lake George @ Americade, one couple had a yellow stallion and were quite interested in the site when I was telling them about the owners of Stallions on this site, They were kind of anxious about sharing info with you. Hope they log on.......

Everyone needs to check the brake bearings on the front wheel of your Stallion. Mine only had 1600 miles on it when they went out. I know of 4 other people that have Stallions that the same thing has happened. One of them was in Nova Scotia and it took 9 days to get fixed!!! I bought my Stallion from Thomas and Gail Riley in Mebane, NC. I called Thomas and told him what happened. He ordered me new bearings and they came in on Friday July 2. He stayed and put them on and we picked it up Friday night so I could have it on the Holiday Weekend. Need to give Thomas a great big Shout Out... THANKS THOMAS!!!!!!!!!!

My question is going to be what is causing this to happen? Did they get a bad patch of bearings? We have 10k on our current Stallion and 13K on the previous one. Neither had wheel bearing problems. Be nice to know the why. Just replacing the bearing with the same ones doesn't fix the issue unless there was just a bad patch.

cupcake is not talking about the wheel bearings, which is tapered bearings covered in grease from Chevron.

cupcake is talking about the black piece on both sides of the the wheel that the brakes are mounted to, those are sealed bearings. if you see bearings as in her pic's you need them replaced NOW. you should not see the ball bearings at all.

Thanks Silverdevil. I has thinking it was the wheel bearing we were looking at. But given that this is the brake mount bearing my questions still. My question still is why are they failing? Maybe they are spraying to much cleaner and water on them? If not that then is it something TBMS has a fix for other than the same bearings?

Hi, My Stallion is a 2010. When the bearings went bad it pushed the seal out where you could see the bearings. We were told that the new bearings they sent to replace these are suppose to be better quality. I don't know if they got a bad batch of bearings or what.

Thomas at Riley's told me that he has had to replace several and so far the new bearings have not gone bad. If one side is replaced you need to have both sides replaced. The seal would move back and forward after they went bad. So if you check yours, be sure to touch the seal and make sure that it is stable...

Left side bearing started to go bad felt as if the front brake on that side was grabbing. At ford dealer and expect parts for repair Monday.

The front bearings were a weak point on the fiberglass Stallions. They used a lesser quality bearing. Mine were shot when I picked it up after only 1-4 miles of riding. I was told by my dealer that that was how the stallions rode, and vibrations on your Stallion over 70mph were not a problem because you should not be riding over the speed limit!!!!

After pushing for months I was one of the first to recieve the new bearings and forks b/c the bearings are so hard to remove most of them cannot be removed so they repace the forks. The new bearings are also larger so the hole needs to be reemed out before replacing them. You can tell your bearings are going when you get front end vibrations at high speeds, and they they totally go, watch out, you will know.

This is not someting to worry about, as you will have plenty of notice if they start to go, and plenty of time to get it fixed under warranty. This is not a saftey concern due to the amount of notice you will have.

The Owner's Manual says to maintain proper air pressure but I can't find anywhere in there where it says what that is supposed to be. Can anyone advise? Thanks!

The tires will have the max air pressure, but don't go anywhere near that. I belive I have been running 25psi in rear and 32 psi in the front. Try that out and see how it rides for you. Use the same air pressure on your shocks so you are comparing apples to apples. I belive that was what the dealer told me at purchase, and it responds well in all conditions.

    New issue: Shifter cable.

Wanted to alert you to something that happened on my trip out west recently. Drove first day to West Texas. Next day made it through El Paso and stopped at the New Mexico visitor center around 4:30. Came out and the key wouldn't turn at all.

We tried calling TMS and no answer, just busy signal. My husband ended up rocking the Stallion a little and then it started. Moved along to Deming where we spent the night. Next morning, same problem. Reached TMS and they thought it was not reading that it was in Park and they said to go to a Ford dealer and have them call. Local dealer didn't want to mess with it so we headed west to Lordsburg, NM where the folks at Smith Ford were really great. Their tech adjusted the shifter cable to get us rolling and recommended we have it replaced in Calif when we got there.

I would say that the biggest issue with stopping at a random Ford dealership is that they don't understand that the warranty is covered by TMS and not by Ford. I kept trying to get them to call TMS but they felt they knew how to fix it. I tried to explain that it didn't matter if they could fix it, they had to call TMS for warranty repair reimbursement. I also wanted to make sure that their fix would stay within the warranty requirements.

If you ask Nick or Kevin to call the dealer, they just say to have them call TMS. Problem with this is that the service guy doesn't want to call multiple times or be put on hold for several minutes waiting for Nick or Kevin to speak with them. The Ford guy gets frustrated and wanders off to help someone else and when Nick comes to the phone there's no one to talk to. I am hoping that there will be some better awareness among Ford service people about how to deal with TMS. Bottom line: when Nick finally talks to the service person, all goes well, they speak the same language and the end result is positive.

When we got to Calif and had some time to go by the local dealer we had the same issues with connecting to TMS but in the end, the dealer adjusted the shifter cable better and we never had another issue. Wanted you to be aware in case this ever happens to you.

    TIRE PRESSURE

I used the recommended pressure of 42# for the front tire and had to replace the tire at 23,700 miles. I did not want to replace with the original tire as the max pressure is 44# and toooo close to the 42# recommended.
if you go to a V speed rated(original is H speed rated) most of those tires are 51# max rated and therefor more difference from recommended and max. I ended up going to Goodyear, so far on 5,000 miles on the new one so can not tell much yet.
as far as speed rating goes you will not exceed the H rating as it is 132 MPH and the V rating is impossible to get to except off of a cliff as it is 161 MPH. the thing I liked is the bigger difference between the max pressure and the recommended pressure. the price difference between the H rated and the V rated is maybe $20 to $25 which is close to the price of a motorcycle tire.

with most of the weight on the front wheel and only 1 tire I would go higher than 32# pressure on the front since the recommended is 42#

Hello all. The person we need to get on here is Kevin from Throughbred motorsports. I called and got transferred to him last week. They said he is the lead Stallion service tech. He was more than helpful with everything i had a problem with. Very knowledgable about the stallion. He stated he had been working on them for about 3 years now. He had my stallion problem diagnosed within minutes. My thanks to him and TM for all of their help. If anybody has any problems, call him! Happy riding..............

Hi fatherof5! Good recommendation on Kevin. Actually, TMS is generally very helpful to our stallion owners, I'm glad to say!!!

He had my stallion problem diagnosed within minutes. My thanks to him and TM for all of their help. If anybody has any problems, call him! Happy riding..............
