Default hub/bearings 4th time

ok, i have had it. this is the 4th time my hub and bearings are blown. what really pisses me off is CSC seems to just want to keep on replacing the bearings and not allowing the the mechanic at the CSC approved shop figure out why the bearings keep going bad. is it me or after 4 times now its not the bearings but maybe something causing the bearings to go bad? i think the dealership i bought it from didnt install the kit correctly to begin with. the bike only has 23000 mils on it and now the 4th set of bearings/hubs? should i get a lawyer involved i dont know what to do. the shop where i have my trike serviced called me back after talking with CSC and said for me to bring the bike in so they can see what is wrong. so another waiting game. im not happy CSC at all.

    if anyone has a suggestion

    Myth,
When you speak of hub bearings what exactly are they? I know they do the bearings in the jack shaft different now because of too many failures. I did a warranty replacement of their reverse and at the same time they had me replace the jack shaft bearings. Sorry, just not sure what you are refering to.
Doesn't sound like you have had any conversations with CSC yourself. If that's the case I suggest you give Patrick Sanders at CSC a call.

csc has been good with me as far as replacing the bearings but something is causing the bearings to go bad and they wont pay the dealer to figure out what the problem is. hey i dont want anything to do with a lawyer i just want my bike fixed right and now after 4 times with the same problem im just extremely frustrated. i have spoken with Patrick sanders a few times. like i said they have been great as far as replacing the bearings and paying for that work to be done but they are just gonna break again in 4 or 5k miles. maybe i should give Patrick sanders another call. just a question to any csc owners out there have any of you had this problem with bearings going. and about hubs and bearings i was told its all one part.

I have recently had and issue with my CSC Trike IRS and had no luck with 3 different dealers. I called CSC and talked with the warranty rep. (JOSEPH SMITH). If you key the prompt on your call you'll probably get voice mail. I suggest that you dial 0 when prompted and ask for Mr. Smith. GOOD LUCK

I don't know beans about the CSC IRS, but I do know that "something" has to be out of alignment on both sides applying an unnatural force on the bearings. Extreme toe-in or tow-out will do it. A bearing system wants to travel in a straight line. I would think the problem has nothing to do with the bearing and hub itself, since those have been replaced so many times. Somethings has them yawed.

I know....this is not much help, but the point is it's just not natural for bearings and hubs to fail this quickly and I surely believe it's alignment and not bearing quality. Something is forcing the bearings either into or out of the hub or race and they are trying to move laterally, which will destroy them. That's not to say the hub machining isn't a problem, but it would be highly unusual to have that many bad ones.

You said there was 23000 miles since the conversion? Questions, when was the conversion done in the first place and how long and how many miles did you have when the bearings failed the first time? I haven't heard of this kind of problem anywhere but I'm wondering if it's the old construction or the current sand castings? If it is the old version maybe there was a manufacturing process error in alignment???. with the current sand castings, it seems to me every unit that comes off the line should be the same??? I'm thinking you may need to ship the Trike to CSC for there evaluation??

I would agree. If the machining of the hub is not "square" with the axle....bearings are never going to last very long. Something is eating them up prematurely. If somebody is putting on new hubs that carry the same error....it never will run true.

I suppose we're all just guessing. I had a bearing failure at 30,000 miles on one in my Lehman kit, but it was a butt-simple straight axle with only one outer bearing. I am of the understanding that with the IRS....you have a wheel system that resembles a front hub on an automobile....like an inner and outer in each hub? If this is the case, it is possible to have them installed too tight.
