Does anyone know why some seats are listed as fitting Harley Trikes but NOT the Street Glide Trike? For example, the Road Zeppelin seat says it will not fit the FLHXXX whereas the Sundowner seat says it will fit both. Corbin also has a trike seat and says the FLHXXX model is coming.

Look for seats that fit a Street Glide Bike. If it will fit the bike it will fit your trike. That's what our HD dealer told us and found it to be true. I didn't like the HD seat and ended up shelling out more money for a Mustang seat. Almost got my money out of the HD seat on ebay. I think the only time you will run into a problem is if you want one of those adjustable seats and they are different. I have to adjust mine manually by using the screw, but very seldom do I need to change it.

Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be that simple. Lots of seats are listed for the Street Glide because it is the same frame as the other touring bikes. The Trikes are also based on the same frame yet there is frequently a disclaimer on certain seats. For example, the Road Zeppelin note reads, "Fits '08-later Touring and FLHTCUTG models (except FLHXXX)." That description includes the Street Glide, but excludes the Street Glide Trike. Other than the Tour Pak I thought the basic body work on the two trikes was the same. Is there any difference? Why won't a seat that fits on one not fit on the other?

I have read on this forum and the HD forum that the SG is a stripped down model of the TG. I do know, but when I first got my SG Trike, the parts books would say fit X-Y-Z but not XXX. We tried several seats, some said it would fit, some said it wouldn't. but all did fit of the ones I liked. You should take the trike to the dealer, try different seats on the trike and when you find the one that you like, either buy it or pass and try to order it somewhere else cheaper. I am not going to buy anything without first trying it on my trike. I learned the hard way. The dealers are happy to put the seats on the trike and let you sit on them and ride it around the parking lot for size. I love my SG Trike. It's different from the TG and since it is a one person trike, fits me for solo riding. I don't like the TG, too many of them. You hardly ever see the SG Trike on the road. I'm glad they are discontinuing the SG Trike. Sorry I can't help you more.:Flag:

As best I know, one difference seems to be the position of the rider backrest opening (the slot in the seat). I know that with my Street Glide, that slot is about 2" farther back than the TG models. I bought the HD TG rider backrest (with the remote release) and bought an HD 'Reach' seat that sits the rider slightly lower, and is slightly more tapered/trimmed for legroom on the forward edges. The backrest bolted right in with the Reach seat, but I had to make some modifications to the backrest anchor (adjustment assembly) to move it back the roughly 2" when I tried to remount the stock seat. A little reading enlightened me that the SG seat moves the rider back about 2".

I'm watching this thread to try to keep myself up with the excellent advice you guys are posting regarding the SG/TG/XXX differences. I undoubtedly will at some point want to add trike package to my SG and retire my Voyager kit (for no particular reasons).

Loner, I do remember when the guy put my Mustang seat on, he had to do some modifications also on the bracket that goes down and bolts to the frame for the backrest. I was doing the opposit of you. I was having to get myself closer to the handlebars. I like to sit straight up on the trike, so he actually drilled a new hole in the bracket. He worked about an hour getting it just right for me. Mine is not a remote release. When my husband gets on the trike for one thing or another, he just about knocks his kneecaps off. I've got it fixed to where no one can ride it but me! LOL
