Master Cylinder Touring

We have gone around this subject a few times without an answer. Has anyone found a direct replacement for the HD 5/8 touring master cylinder to provide more volumn for the rear brakes?

would the performance machine master cylinder work. They have a complete new brake system for the Tri Glide Rears.

I've had a problem with my rear brakes on my Ultra/Champion conversion since day one. The right side brakes better than the left side and will lock up if I get on the brakes real hard. I think the problem lies in the fact that the master cylinder is placed too low in the system in relation to the rear brakes making it difficult to completely bleed all the air out. I would think that Tri-Glides would have the same problem as the master cylinder is the same size and located in the same place as mine??

I was riding 2 up pulling my Aluma trailer which I'd say was in the neighborhood of 300 pounds counting trailer weight and gear inside.

I agree my TRI GLIDE rear brakes stop good.. Back in October I had a driver decide to make a right turn from the left lane while I was driving in the right lane. Lets just say lucky I was watching and noticed this driver decide to make a right turn from the left lane in time. The rear brakes and my defensive driving saved me from getting seriously hurt. After this happened all I had was a damaged left rear reflector and some rubber scraps on the fender.

No Kidding!! The driver really had no respect either as I had to do all the reports etc.

The driver was to busy!!! That one killed me!!

Anyway always be careful as you will never know what the next driver will do when you leasted expect it..

My parking break no longer holds the motorcycle when parked and set. I realize this style of parking break lever should be adjustable but cannot seem to turn it. Is there some trike to adjusting or am I not trying hard enough?

On the triglede ,the parking brake lever has a set screw at the upper edge of the handle; it takes a small allen wrench. loosen setscrew and turn handle clockwise to tighten the cable. hope this helpslb

Just a suggestion .

Have you had the left brake caliper looked at. Its possible the piston isnt sliding freely as the right side caliper resulting in slower stopping pressure for the leftside. The piston bore could have some foreign material in it.

I run the Street Glide/ CSC Daytona combination with no breaking issues. Is the braking system on the Champion so much different than CSC system?

Don't really know...all I know is the Champion kit uses Volkswagen disc brakes on the rear. I have had them bled twice now and it's the same as when the kit was installed. I talked to the folks at champion last year and they sell some kind of doo-hickey that installs in the brake line. I think it's purpose is to prevent the brake fluid from draining back down to the master cylinder when bleeding the brakes but I'm not sure. I believe they now include that device installed on their kits. I'm not going to buy it because I already have a HUGE investment in the kit, running boards and light bar and feel that they should provide that device for free if it does in fact improve the braking and safety of the trike.
I'm seriously considering finishing out this season on the Ultra/Champion and selling it next Spring and buying a Cheetah if I can save up some bucks this winter.
