My name is Animal (got the tag in '73 while in the Navy, never seemed to lose it), and have been into trikes since '69 when a local madman built one with a Buick aluminum V8, a scout transmission, and a Renault rear end using Harley meter maid trike parts. It was fun, and scary! In '73 I saw a trike using the FWD transaxle from an Olds Toronado and a 425 hp 425 cu. in. V8. I knew I needed one! lol I finally built my first trike in '90, using a Chevy Citation FWD unit with a 2.8l V6. I sold it and built another using a Fiero transaxle and a high-output 2.8.
They were a lot of fun, and got a lot of attention. I sold the second one to make a down payment on a house, and just never seemed to get started on another trike. I raced stock cars, rode two wheels, and built a couple of hot rods. After a knee replacement, I decided to give the knee a break and build my long-awaited Toronado trike. I found one with the basics done for a decent price, so I bought it. I'll change most of it over the winter, but am riding it for the rest of the season as is. (But I have already changed a whole lot of little things to make it more comfortable and safer.) Sorry for the book, but I'll stop naw. I'm glad to be here.
