Trike problem, any suggestions.

I purchased my Trike from "Creepers Customs, LLC" in Wisconsin in March 2011. I took it to a motorcycle shop at about 150 miles to have the chain checked and the tire adjusted to make the chain tight. I let the technician test drive the trike after the repair and this is what he told me was wrong with my trike: the clutch is slipping, the timing is off, the carb is running to lean because it backfires when the motor is running, and there's nothing securing the carb to the heads.

Also during my rides I've lost the cap to the rear master brake cylinder, 2 bolts that attach 1 of the fenders to the frame, and the nut for the rod that attaches the front end to the frame. According to this mechanic, the trike is unsafe to ride and is going to cost me about $1000 to make it safe to ride. The paperwork I got from the person who delivered it to my house, says "sold as is/no warranty. So now I have a trike that I just bought 3 1/2 months ago that only has 310 miles on it and I'm having to pay to repair it already. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get the shop I bought the trike from to pay for the repairs? Sorry for the long post.

Regardless of what the paper work states I would contact the company and document who U talked to and what they said..
Try to work something out with them first. The minute U say lawyer they are going to clam up. So be careful in what U say.
I guess this is another case of buyer beware...

I agree with kat. Try to get them to work something out with you. They might own up, and make everything right, I know I would, as well as most builders would, if given the chance. After all, you already posted their name and location, and I know you don't want to inadvertantly slam them before giving them a chance. The "sold as is, no warantee" paperwork may be a show stopper tho. Good luck.

#1 why would anyone purchase any vehicle with such a statement on the purchase order?
#2 The sale of any vehicle with that many safety infractions cannot be legal either with or without a warranty.
#3 If they don't jump at the chance to fix the problems, they are a fool, and further legal action could/should put them out of business.

Was it purchased from a dealer or a shop. If so, the as is statement on the bill of sale is crap. They have the responsibility of delivering a usable and safe product. Private Party is "AS IS" always, you are screwed.

I agree with our friends on the Forum. Give the folks who sold you the Trike a chance to make good for you. If they do not, you can have the bike fixed and pay the bill then take them to Small Claims Court. If you have proper documentation, the judge will usually side with you and you can recover most if not all of the money.

Seems to me that being he has a repair menu, all he has to do is go thru the list and start wrenching. Or he’s lookin for a new place to live being he sold to his cousin
