Changing Triglide Transmission Sprocket

I made the same change to my 2010 trike over the winter when I also took out the cat and changed out the muffler cores, etc....., the change in the gear ratio and power was both unbelieveable and immediate. I have no problem now keeping up with the boys on the highways. I recommend anyone who wants more power and a more aggressive shift ratio do this. What an amazing difference!

My bad, I misunderstood the message, he quoted me $475 is that better. I figure it will help me pulling away from stops, and pulling a trailer. I understand my mileage will suffer a little, but hell it isn't great now.

Won't hurt the gas mileage a bit, throughout all my modifications my mileage has always been about the same as it was when it was stock, maybe a touch better. Last year I ran the stock gearing along with SE255 cams and the Fuelmoto Jackpot head pipe, this year I'm running the 30 tooth sprocket and Woods TW555 cams and the fuel mileage is still about the same.

Just got in from riding the machine home from the dealer after they replaced the sprocket ... I was stunned at the difference the 30 tooth sprocket makes ... much better acceleration ... much easier to reach crusing speed and going through the gears ... my trike is a 2010 and I sure wish the jackasses at HD had built the thing right the frist time.

Another thing you will notice is you don't have to slip the clutch quite as much. ENJOY.

What about my 2005 Ultra Classic/Lehman conversion with the 5 speed transmission. I have only owned it for 3 days and I don't like the gear ratio. I am always down shifting to keep the revs over 2000 RPM, it is just too long legged. From 30 to 60 if on any hill at all I feel it is lugging and I down shift, I don't like that.

I wish I could help you, I just don't know much about conversions. I will say this, you might try targeting 2,500 as your min rpm. You can let it drift down to 2,000 when your running on flat ground and have no plans on accelerating. I'm going to take a wild guess and say your engine is still at 88", which is huge when you start lugging around an extra 400 pounds or so. I know I guy who runs a hack with a stage 1 88" and he's always down shifting to pull hills.

With the 32 tooth to 30 what is the RPM difference at say 35 and 60 MPH, thanks.

The difference I see while in 6th gear between the 32 tooth and the 30 tooth is I used to run right around 2,900 rpm at 75 mph, now I'm in the neighborhood of 3,100 rpm give or take a touch. My 6th gear is pretty close to the 5th gear on my 06 Ultra which is still 2 wheels.

I have a 2012 Tri Glide that should be here mid week. Does it have the 32 tooth sprocket or have they changed it to a 30?......Thanks
