I just installed a Frankenstein rear end on my 1991 Harley FLT and have belt alignment problem. I rode the trike 150 miles on first trip and rear belt tracks against outer pulley flanges on both transmission and rear wheel pulleys. After the ride the rear pulley was warm and, when you roll trike with motor off, there is a squeak from from belt rubbing both pulley outer flanges. I pulled back apart and installed new swingarm clev block bushings to be sure every thing was tight there, but belt still runs against outer pulleys on trans and rear wheel pulley. I have also made gauge and measured from center of swingarm pivot bolt to same place on Frankenstein swing arm on both sides and measurement is same. Since this is a touring model, the swingarm pivot bolt runs through rear of transmission case and there is no adjustment between transmisson and rear wheel. Can anyone tell me where the problem might be, I have taken the rear end in and out 5 or 6 times and this is driving me nuts. This problem probably existed when the bike was two wheels, however I always adjusted belt to center of rear wheel pulley by twisting a few flats on one of the rear wheel axle adjusters. I cannot adjust on one side with the trike rear end.
