I have been seriously considering trading my 2009 Goldwing trike for one of the new Stallions but am unable to find one. Does anyone know when one of these Trikes may be available?

none have been made this year, the last ones were made in 2010.
Ford quit making the Ford Ranger and that is what the Stallion is made from.
go to the Thoroughbred Motor Sports web site and see if they have started making the 2012 Stallion yet.
checking with them will be the fastest way
there ph # is 1-888-783-3348, give them a call or go to there web site

otherwise try and find a used one.

Dealers are now taking deposits on 2012 models with expected production in last quater. Drive train remains the same so they say. Contact a dealer from their web site they need to get their orders in!

Thanks for the reply; the dealer in my area wants a $5000 deposit that may be here sometime in January. That is a little too much for me to dish out in the hopes I may receive one. I will probably just wait and see. Maybe I will get lucky.. If not I can always stick with my Goldwing. Who knows maybe someone else may decide to build an American made trike that can meet the production requirements.

</div>Particle the Stallion has been a good trike. A few teething issues at first but the has really stood behind their product. If you really like the Stallion then the few months to wait is not bad. My wife got one of the first productions ones back in 08 and had waited 18 months for hers. She loves her trike.

Good luck and welcome to triketalk.

My understanding is they will not be available until middle of 2012 at the soonest. It will also depend on how many folks are waiting in line.

Thoroughbred Motorsports will be at the Sturgis Ralley...The Davis Ralley in Sept in NewHampton Iowa and at Biketober Fest in Daytona in October. I am sure that Jeff or Nick will answer any question you have, You will enjoy a Stallion very much.. Have one now and looking to get another Charlie D.:wtg:

</div>Bumlbe I see you list Sturgis as where you live, if you get a chance see Jeff or Diane and get the straight current information and report back to the forum. We would all appreciate getting the current info.

You might consider a used one - Joplin Craigslist has one in Edmond OK for $25,000. Says it is a 2010, was owned by an 83 year and has only 3,765 miles on it.

Most issues should be known and repaired by now, and the price is a bit lower than an brandy-new one. Someone else took the depreciation hit. More money for farkles!

my personal opinion is you do not want anything older than a 2009 Stallion
reason is the body of 08 and older is fiber glass
body of 09 and newer is ABS plastic.

if you know where any are go look at them and see the difference.

what makes the plastic better than the fiberglass ? I have been working with fiberglass for years and a little bit with plastic (suzuki fenders). i think that the fiberglass is much easier to do repairs on ?

We purchased ours because it was fiberglass. We had the ability to purchase either when we replaced MJ's orginal Stallion. We like the fiberglass better.

no 2 fiberglass are alike, they are close but making a mold that large they are not alike.
fiberglass is easier to repair but also easier to break.
motorcycles have been made out of ABS plastic for 30 to 40 or more years because they are less likely to break.
the fiberglass body is the hood, the trunk and the body, 3 pieces
the ABS plastic body is the hood, the trunk and about 6 or so body parts plus you can not stand on the fiberglass running boards without a chance of breaking them, the ABS running boards are much stronger and have a frame under them and you can stand on them which makes it easier for some folks to get in.
all the ABS bodies are interchangeable and each panel is interchangeable.
why did TBMS change from fiberglass to ABS plastic?

I think you answered your own question, why did TBMS change from fiberglass to ABS plastic, thus making your point. Don't you agree Meredog? Personally, I couldn't agree with you more, having decided to buy a used 2009 vs. a 2008, after waiting a year for my 2011 to arrive. Considering the price increase that occurred on the Stallion's base price and the delays in getting the 2012's available to the customers in waiting or not, I don't regret my decision to buy used.

my 160 lbs wife and my 220 lbs have been getting in and out standing on the left running board for 3 years without an issue. maybe we are lucky anyway we like ours
