I am thinking about putting a chrome rim up front to match my chrome rear rims on my 2003 goldwing trike. Do I need to or should I replace the bearing when I have the new rim installed? How much does a front wheeel bearing cost?

Go ahead and replace it---they are not much and then you start fresh with new bearings.
Stan I agree. While its apart go ahead and replce them. Bearing are cheap compared to the labor to replace them.

YUP, Replace them. They have to come out before the wheel can be chromed anyway and I don't think it would be a good idea to put the old ones back in.... When I did my front wheel many years ago it didn't seem all that hard or expensive...

I'm like an old race horse..... I can still run the race -- Just ache more at the finish line and need more rest between outings.
All Balls makes bearings for the 1800 besides OEM. Anywhere from $15.00 to $22.00 a set. And depending on who you get the front wheel from some have bearings installed already.
It all depends on how the bearings are removed.
Using a slap hammer bearing puller better replace them.
