CSC aux fuel tank and MPG

Got 2 questions.
1st our newest addition 2004 1800 with CSC kit is only getting 32mpg.
Our last trike a 2008 1800 with Champion kit got a solid 40.
Would this difference be in the kit, the year model difference, or something else.

2nd question, I was told that this trike was equipped with an aux fuel tank but the trunk is extra,extra small compared to the last trike. If it is equipped with an aux fuel tank deos that extra fuel show on the gas gauge or do you just have to guess when you are really going to be dry.

If you are referring to the aux tank on the CSC Gl1800, it does not effect the trunk size in any way. The aux tank is under the seat behind the stock tank. The tank is gravity fed via a link hose attached to the bottom of both tanks.

Your gas gauge will read the same as not having the aux tank. The difference is when your reserve light comes on you have about 90 safe extra miles.

The aux tank is also filled by gravity via the stock filler location. The only difference is when you fill the tank you have to wait a minute or so to let the aux tank fill and then top off again. You may have to do this two or three times.

As for the fuel mileage, you are doing better than me, I usually get around 28.

PS: I just reread your post, and referring to the trunk size, I think it is just a design issue. I understand in their new design for 2012 they have a significantly larger trunk.

My mileage is also 32 mpg, as is yours. That includes pulling a trailer and all kinds of ridding. That is the overall mileage since triking at 11K miles.

Fred gave a good answer on the aux fuel tank and it is only 3.4 gal but that amount allows me keep up with the 2 wheelers. I think it is the best method on the market for the way it works but is a little slower to fill up.

We bought our 08 GW/CSC new and have repeatedly gotten 32 MPG with 2 up & Escapade trailer, at 70 GPS MPH. Have gotten 35-36 with just trike on slower roads a few times.

I get 34 to 35 MPG on an 07 CSC at interstate speeds.
The auxillary tank option lets me do over 320 miles between fillups.
It just takes longer to fill.

I get about 32 with mine average.On parkway I get 34-36. If i get in a hurry on the interstate in excess of 70 MPH the mileage drops a lot (less than 30) I`t really just a matter of how you drive.
