    Default Leg room ?

I'm looking real hard at getting a Tri Glide, but was wondering how much leg room they have. I'm 6'4" and I've had 12 or more knee surgeries including 5 total replacements so the knees don't bend real well. I'm concerned if I'll fit and be able to do long rides, any thoughts or advice would be great. I had my heart set on a Road Glide CVO I found, but my body is winning the argument.

I'm 6'1" and have the '10 TG. I removed those leg fairings and added some good highway pegs. I stretch right out with no problem. Sometimes I lay my leg on top of crash bar to completely straighten out my knees.

I put a "Tall Boy" seat on mine from the HD dealer, plenty of room, the standard seat was too cramped. That and the pegs should work fine. Ian.

Thanks for all the info & suggestions. I had a chance to sit on a TG Sat. and found that I fit for short rides only so the idea of the tallboy seat would be change #1 and the other ideas after that.
I have been reading a lot of the comments on other subjects on this forum and noticed that there has not been a lot of complaints about the reverse system(big relief), but I think I will install a Baker system at first sign of problems, might even grab one up if found at a good price and have it for later.
    Thanks for the help.

I am also 6' 4", and was a little cramped. On long rides, my left knee would just give me a fit. Replaced the stock seat with a Mustang Super Tourer, which gave me 1.75" back and the stock floorboards with HD extended, giving me 1" forward. 2.75" total made a huge difference. I also put highway pegs on that give me a chance to stretch my legs.

Had the Zeppelin seat on my '04 electra glide. Loved it. Would have swapped onto my '10 TG but they went and changed the mounting.
And don't get me started on reverse. After various problems, warranty just replaced motor. New one seems to have more torque and rpm but I sometimes have to rev a little to keep from stalling out due to the amount of current it takes. Pulls back real well now, though.

Thanks for all the great info, I've read a bunch on this forum and I'm glad I found this place. I've decided that once my stocks & investments sales are complete I'll be in full on trike hunting mode. Nothing to decided except for colors & options and I'll definitely be looking for a deal on a Baker reverse gear set-up. I'm sure I will be back for more info so thanks ahead of time.

a s&s gear drive cams 411 i believe is the largerst one for the 103 without headwork. will eliminate the chain adjuster. after 11k miles rifeing solo, mine
'09 tri-glide showed significant wear to the block.
and the improvement in engine performance was really great.
    just a suggestion. ride-on

the hd reverse motor system is troublesome, completely failed twice on my bike.the idea is really great, the components are of poor quality.the transmissions based mechanical reverses also are prone to failure if you forget to disengage the reverse and then go foreword ,as i have been told.Is this true? The hd reverse is a good idea ,it needs to be perfected.

Mark, do a search for replacing the HD reverse. I believe the brand is AIM that several of our members have used to replace it with a true mechanical reverse with very good results.

The HD reverse certainly is the easiest and I never had one moment's problem with mine. However, last winter a rider had his engage while he was traveling at 55 mph and let's just say, it wasn't pretty. His wife got banged up pretty badly after they shot across the interstate into a guard rail.
My husband said that he had heard enough and that thing was being replaced. So we put in the aim reverse gear. It has taken me awhile to get used to the sequence of using it. Not as easy as the electric motor, but worth it.

Yes, it is true, that you do not want to go forward when the reverse is engaged. But on several occasions, I have forgot to disengage it, put the bike into first and tried to go. I could feel the resistance, and remembered. So far, no harm, no foul.

I have a Champion Reverse on mine. It's about the same as the AIM. I think the AIM might be a bit cheaper. I had a champion on my last trike so I went with them again.
