Trike weight?

So, I know this has had to have been talked about but I used the search and cannot find anything

I would like to know how much triking changes the weight?

For this example I would like to use a 1500 if someone has weighed theirs. We do not to be "perfectly" technical but let's say my 89 is suppose to weigh about 850 lbs. wet. So what does a trike kit add to that?

I know you want to talk GL1500s and I hope someone does. I'm gonna toss in the GL1800 to Motor Trike conversion info just for conversation....

My '06 service manual says the two wheel version weighs 893 pounds. The Motor Trike Adventure (IRS) manual say it now weighs 1200 pounds. That's a net gain of 307 pounds.

Keep in mind that each conversion kit will not weigh the same. Also, there is a lot of "Take Off" pieces during the conversion process. I'd suggest contacting kit manufactures and getting their "after conversion" weight. Then you will have something to compare the "actual" two wheel numbers with.

I hear ya on the take off pieces and different manufacturer weights, but guess I am just looking for an idea of what a GL1500 weighs triked. Just approximate is good for this goof

Thanks guy's ! I did just that and went to some sites and looked at the specs page. Didn't even think of that. DUH !

Roadsmith for 1500 list 1150 lbs. for anybody with this same question that search's in the future.

Had my 96se on certified scales as a two wheeler one time,full tank of gas and rain gear.
940 lbs.
Now has a 06 lehman kit with floor boars I am going to say adds around 350 lbs. so that puts it around 1300 lbs.

There is a reason for this info. I really like the power to weight ratio of our 89 GL1500 vs that of our VW Street Legal Dune Buggy. We have been buggiers for over 20 years and have had a bike most the whole time as well, but just got the Wing last year. Most the other bikes were older Harley's.

This is a first for us as far as intercoms etc....and now the wife has told me she will not ride on anything but a Wing for now on

The point to this post is I wanted to compare power to weight of our buggy against that of a triked 1500 as it looks like at 43 two wheels is coming to an end for me. I tried to ride a bit yesterday and had to come right back home because I cannot extend my right leg out for a landing. I only have a 28" inseam so I need full extension to reach the ground

So it will be try to trike mine, buy a 1500 triked or just return to the buggy, I love buggies but the Wing is new to us and really it is all we have played with this summer because it is more highway friendly because of the power, there is never a problem running out on the road to go looksy at something we want to see. I have a good motor in the buggy but 70 is still not always friendly in one, you have to have your foot in it all the time.

Sorry for rambling, but to those that are reading it gives some inside to other forms of recreation and their pro's and con's.
