Welcome to TrikeTalk. If you did not have a rake kit installed, a rake would make a big difference for you. PM or call Bazooka if you have questions about a rake kit. He offers members a very reasonable price on rake kits, and can recommend the best one for your particular trike.

Thanks, I was told that i wouldn't need it on the harley
A rake kit isn't "needed"..... you <b>can</b> ride the rest of your life without one. But I wouldn't have a trike without one!!!! I've ridden both ways, and can assure you that it is like moving from old fashioned manual steering to enjoyable power steering on a car. It also smooths out that wobble and bounce in the front end, so it is much more comfortable. I'm guessing a 4.5 degree rake will be recommended for you. That is what I have on my Fat Boy / Champion trike, and I love it. But Bazooka has an awful lot of knowledge about the different bikes and kits and will make the best recommendation for you.

Check out this thread started by Bazooka, but especially note what responses he has gotten from other new riders who added the rake: http://www.triketalk.com/forum/harle...its-695-a.html
Also some additional info in this thread: http://www.triketalk.com/forum/honda...-ez-steer.html

</div>Welcome aboard. Glad you joined us. Nan is right on about the rake kit. Also make sure the wheel is balanced and the fall away on the forks needs to be tightened from what it was as a 2 wheeler. All that will resolve the wobble. Call Bakooka about the rake kit. He will square you away.

Thanks, I am glad I joined and I am getting alot of information from this.
There are still dealers out there that will tell you you dont need a rake kit, but if you want to get rid of the head shake and enjoy a much easier and more responsive steering, have the rake installed. Night and day difference.

Do I need to figure the Trail for my 2000 Sportster before I install a 5-6 degree raked Triple Tree on my just finished trike conversion or can I just order a raked Triple Tree and install it on the conversion? It would seem if you installed a Triple Tree built just for a certain trike conversion the trail is a moot point. I have the Cass County Trike conversion installed with 2 degree rake built in and it too has front end shake and semi-hard steering so I am guessing an additional 5-6 degree rake would be sufficient. If the rake doesn't cure the front end shake I am guessing a Steering Dampner is in order?
Comment and suggestions greatly appreciated.

I am new here but am totally amazed at how freely the information flows here. This place is super cool !!!
a cheaper fix is to sit on your seat backwards , rear end wooble isn't near as bad.
Remember--It is never the issue but rather how we react to the issue is the issue.

whoever installed your trike kit should have told you that you needed a raked triple tree or the trike WILL wobble. frankenstein.com this is the kit i installed on our 07 sporty two months ago. it calls for 5 degree rake, i bought their trees in my kit. i rode it before putting the new trees on and it was terrible, after was alot better but understand its a different animal than the two wheeler. i started out thightning the neck bolt to factory specs of seems like 12-15 lbs, now its as tight as i can get it at 80 lbs. i love riding it. took about 1 1/2 hours of my time. trees vary in price i paid 500.00 a good low end tree. i did this myself-- my dealer quoted me 4 hrs @ 70.00 hr. 1000.00 is too high. hope this helps.
