If I were wanting a Stallion, think I would wait for the newer updated engine, rather than the old 2.3 Ranger truck motor.

2009 Honda Big Red MUV

Runner, I see that Thoroughbred will be at the BBB Rally in 3 weeks. I'm going and will try and 'pump' them for more info on their future plans.

When I first posted the info on the availability of 150 new Stallions starting in January (dated on Aug. 30) the reasoning was to fulfill a need for the Stallion and since 150 more engines were located...that is what you see happening.
It may be a good point to wait for the new engine to come to life but there may be "teething" problems on it as well and that is why this production run is being done...to allow for more "engineering" to be made better with the new engine.
Hope everyone who want's one (of the 150 becoming available) gets what they want.

They may be running this limited production solely to keep the production base current. If not, the skill base that has, for all intents & purposes been sitting idle for nearly a year will migrate elsewhere. It is easier to freshen established skills with new technology then to train new skills.
BTW Stall1803: if there was a news release issued from TBMS about the upcoming production run can you post it here? TBMS website has no mention of such (or, anything new at all since last winter). TNX.
Markie, if I knew how to do an attachment on here I would.

I have not seen a press release. I only saw the company's ad on page 26 of the October 2011 issue of Wing World.

Strangely, the company's WEB site has not been updated for a LONG time.
I sent an email to TBMS asking about the 2012's. Their reply was they have recently sent new info to their dealers, and to contact my local dealer. Now waiting for their response. Any Stallion owners out there in South Carolina?

The Stallion dealer in SC said they have not heard anything about 2012's...
The Stallion dealer I know says they talked to TMS and were told the price will be $33,995 with a $5000 deposit and production to begin in Jan.

I wonder if TMS will continue to offer a stripped down version or base model Stallion where the customer can pick and choose what options he/she wishes to have. I suspect they will, since their website, which hasn't been update since January 2011, still shows the base model for $28,315.00. Future Stallion buyers better be certain on their decision to buy, as I doubt their deposit will be refundable, unless it's falls under a "dire emergency". I trust that the deposit forms that the dealerships have will spell out to the customer what these circumstances are.

Received this reply from TBMS today: We are going to start production of a limited run of 150 units in January. We have notified our dealers according and they are currently taking deposits. They will come loaded out at $33,995.00 and will have the Ford 2.3 engine, same as before
I talked to Nick at the BBB Rally in Fayetteville, AR last week. The 150 2.3L engines will go in the 2012 models beginning in Jan. The 2.5's will go in the 2013 model later in the year.

I was told by my dealer last night that they are not making the 2012 Stallions and the dealers were refunded their money. Had anyone else heard this?
I contacted TBMS and confirmed that information as correct. A more complete statement from Jeff Vey of TBMS/Motor Trike will follow here shortly.

Ed - you are correct.
Jeff & Diane have released the following letter:
This is a notification that we are not going to produce the Stallion in 2012.
Although we had planned to, we did not receive enough deposits to meet the 150 requirement we needed to be able to profitably manufacture the Stallion.
We have the majority of the parts we need but cannot manufacture something that is not already sold in the current economic environment. The risk versus the reward just isn’t there. Of course, we will be returning all the deposits we have taken.
The question that will be asked is if the Stallion is dead? No, but until we have enough firm orders in place we cannot take any chances. We will reevaluate market demand in the future.
Thank you,
Jeff and Diane Vey
All deposits to dealers and customers have already been refunded.
