I have been a gun owner for as long as I can remember, my father gave me a small one shot short 22 when I was 7 or 8 and I bought a full size 22 when I was about 12 - no laws against kids owning guns at that time. When I turned 16 my dad gave a S&W model 19 (357) and a S&W model 17 (22). Note: Same frame on both, practice with 17, protect with 19. still have these.

I took the first CHL instructor class given in Texas and took the CHL class to carry. I have carried everyday since then.

I love 45's and have carried several but they have gotten heavy, so now I carry a Ruger LCR 357. I bought a Kimber Solo 9mm but it has not proven itself reliable. The first went back to Kimber twice. It was replaced with a new one that has not yet proven itself.

Note: Being a CHL instructor did not get you a CHL, you had to take the CHL class but you did not have to shoot because instructors had to shoot 90% with both auto and revolver. Stupid!

I never thought that I would own a black gun but Obama proved himself to being a great gun salesman. I now own 2 AR-15s, a Wilson Combat 556 and a S&W AR-15/22.

If you want to have a lot of fun with a grandson get involved in Cowboy Action Shooting. Dress up as a cowboy and shoot targets with 2 revolvers, a rifle and a shotgun. I bought my grandson 2 Ruger 22s when he was 10. At first I would let him win, now that he is 13, I have a hard time winning.

Sorry the Ar-15/22 is an M&P AR-15/22 not as S&W.

I hear you about keeping those little critter at bay, between the coons and skunks I get some occasional target practice. I'm looking at picking up a rifle in .17HMR for reaching out a little farther than my .22.

Took out the 40 cal. Sig 229 Equinox out today. Not to bad. Not sure yet whether its going to be the 45 cal. PDA or the 229. Have one more I need to shoot, a 45 cal. Springfield Armory Champion. The worst part is the money for the ammo. Have to decide soon. Need my XDS.

The Sig or the SA 1911 frame? Tough call. But for what you need it for, the 1911 frame would get my vote)
(IF you were asking for a vote )
Around here in the Sticks, ANY ammo is insanely scarce. Hope Santy Claus has an ammo factory up at the Pole cause my Christmas list is ALL ammo.

Your probably right. Hope Santa doesn't get caught with all the ammo he is going to have to bring on Christmas Day. The ATF will charge him with stock pilling ammo.

Sounds like you have the ammo situation well in hand. Getting .22LR is getting just a little better around here.

midway has 22's but the shipping kills the price . I found some at walmart about 2 months ago but was only allowed to buy 3 fifty round boxes. the wife also bought 3. haven't seen any there since. the manager said they can only get a small amount and sell as soon as they hit the shelf.

I feel the current ammo crisis is two fold.
first came all the worries of dooms day
everyone started hoarding up ammo for the end of days. and we were already having school shootings all over the country. everyone blaming the gun.
second ; when the sandy hook shooting happened , Obama started the big government crack down on guns. It scared a lot of us into thinking big brother was going to come to your house and take your guns. now every gun owner started counting there bullets and buying more.
the government has tried to implement several different ways of gun control and as far as I know , no major steps have been taken.
there may very well be some changes to the manufacturing rules that ammo companies have to now follow or maybe they are just driving prices up. Even the primers and powders for the small amount of reloads I do have almost doubled in price and at times have been hard to find. It took me almost 6 months to gather the right stuff to reload .380"s.

seems you can still by big magazines, ar-15s , and just about all the ammo you want on the open market if you are willing to pay the price.
I grew up in Illinois and you had to have a F.O.I. card to buy ammo or guns even in the 60"s . Gun registration isn't a new idea.
when I moved to Mo. I went to by my duty pistol and presented my F.O.I. card to the dealer , he laughed at me . he told me I didn't need that anymore but I did need to get a note from the sheriffs dept. and pay them for a criminal history check.

You are right about troubling times in the kingdom. Similar experience at Walmart. I bought 3 and the wife bought three. Have had a FOID card since I was a kid. And that's a long time ago. Next week have to take a course so I can apply for a Concealed Carry License. Like they don't think you can use a gun! Hunted all my life. You get no credit for that.

But, more applicable these days would be "Failure to Comprehend"

Sorry for veering off-topic. But, there were a lot of Guns in the movie so not too off.

My favorite all time movie. Yes they have a lot of guns, so were still on topic. I totally agree with you.
