speed indicator

i have notice recently that my speed indicator is going crazy at times....if i go 55, sometimes i'll see the gauge showing 90-100....i just had the speed sensor changed out, but this issue is still an issue.....anyone else have this problem in the past ?
besides that....Still love this thing....

happens quite often, dust can get inside and I guess stick to the insides of the speedometer and cause that, on mine if you look at the INSIDE of the dash the glass/plastic is dusty. I have pulled it off and cleaned it several times and tried different things to seal it but still happens.<br />
if you stop and turn off the Stallion and then turn it back on most of the time it will reset it.<br />
get a GPS, I use it on trips.

Is it pretty easy to pull the cluster out? Mine acts up also at times. Someone told me when he pulled his out and put back in he put some weather stripping around the edges.

I have pulled out the cover several times and did add weather stripping the last time and it still screws up by letting dust in and the speedometer is high sometimes and low sometimes and correct sometimes. one day it high by 40 or more and the next day it low by 30 or so.<br />
there is a test that you can do to the dash.<br />
set the mileage to the total miles, not trip.<br />
with the key off press and hold the button that changes between the total and the trip, while still holding the button turn the key on.<br />
the mileage numbers now say test, some caps some lower case.<br />
press and release the button again and the gauges will go from low to max and back to low then set to where ever they are suppose to be.<br />
press again and the mileage will turn on all bits.<br />
do again and it will start showing different codes, repeating will show more codes.<br />
most of this I have entered from memory and it is correct or close.

The wife's Stallion had the same problem with the speedometer. Sometimes she would be going 100 while sitting still or 30 while she was going much faster. Again, if she stopped and turned the switch off it would be okay for awhile. Then she started having problems with the horn not working as well as the cruise control quitting or not setting. <br />

We found that all of the problems were connected to the clock spring under the steering wheel. It evidently had a break in one of the wires and was causing the problem. Talk to Nick or Richard at TMS. They sent me a new clock spring -- but take my word for it, not something you want to do yourself. Once it was installed all of the problems went away and the bike has worked fine ever since.
