Your state may require the bike to have stock exhaust.
If that is so he may have to find a set of stock exhaust.
My cousin just purchased a sportster 1200 with drag pipes on it. He has to take the DOT test on it and can't do it because of the pipes. Is there any way to doctor these drag pipes for the test or would he have to change out the exhaust system? He would appreciate any kind of help at this point
Thanks

you can get baffles for the drag pipes
Would the baffles just fit in the end of the pipe? I suppose he could buy them at the Harley shop. Thank you very much for the input
It's been years since I used baffles, but I seem to remember you have to drill at least one hole for a screw to hold baffles in place after sliding them into pipe.
He would be better off just finding an old stock set that someone has trashed and hook them up. They are very common and cheap. Easy switch on Sporty. Other option is to find someone who has stock pipes who is cool and borrow them. I wouldn't care.

I'd take the easy way out and borrow an old bike from someone. Doesn't matter what make model or size., so long as its titled, licensed and inspected. Heck, you can even take the test on a scooter!
