Help on oil cooling solution

I am seeking opinions on help to reduce my oil tempurture by installing an after-market product. I have a 2006 H.D. Electra Glide with a 2011 Motortrike conversion.My tempurture on a 80 degree day is in the 250 degree range. My question is would I be farther ahead installing the Baker +1 oil pan for more oil,or a Jagg 10 row oil cooler. I currently use H.D. 20w-50w standard oil. I am thinking of switching oils to Redline 20w-60w. I dont know much about this oil standard or synthic.Or where to order it from,I am not a mechanic.Any advice would be welcome.

I can see some benefit of running an extra qt. of oil, but even more benefit from running the stock oil capacity through an actual oil cooler.

When comparing prices of these two items, my .02 is that you'd definitely get more bang for your buck by installing the more inexpensive Jagg 10 row oil cooler........

i have the same problem with my '09 t/g. i've installed a oil temp gage,revolution performance EFI, S&S 510 gear cam,and a jaggs universal 6x9' oil cooler in the lt crash bar area. with K&N air filter. oil cooler removes alot of heat.to secure the hi-pressure hoses (NAPA) to the male oil cooler , use PEX tubeing circle clamps. just butter lube the fittings with automotive sealant, slide the clamp over the hose and then slide the hose over the oil cooler male fittings and chinch it down with the ratchet. looks great,and no leaks. on the engine side i used the exhisting wing clamps (h-d) original clamps.
i am considering installing a true dual exhaust this winter.hope we can help each other out with ideas. lb

Im a big guy ( Mr Wizard and few other here can vouch on that ) running a 117" engine on my Motortrike Roadglide and during the summer heat of 100 degree days here on the caost of South Carolina, I can ride solo in those temps on the highways and my oil temps on the oil temp gauge @ 210-220. In traffic the oil temps will rise to 240. I do have the HD parade fan for additional air flow but dont use it too often. It takes an average of 30-60 minutes before the engine reaches 210-220 cruising

If my G/F rides with me I see will see a rise of 10-20 degrees in the oil temps

I have true dual exhaust, OilBud oil cooler and a TTS Mastertune programer. Im running Amsoil Straight 60wt synthetic engine oil during the summer month and switch to Redline 20/60 synthetic in the winter months for the cold weather viscosity you get with multi weight oil. Using 20/60 weight oil year round is not a bad idea if your in the hot weather. I personally have had excellent results with both and prefer the straight weight oil during the summer months for the added viscosity you get.

To let you know, the Baker oil pan is nice having that extra quart oil, but I dont see it giving you the needed cooling your looking for. The oil pan is attached to the transmission and along with the heat of the engine oil and the heat from the transmission your money would be better spent on a good oil cooler and ECM tuner. The less restrictive the exhaust is will also remove the heat

To get a good reading on the how well a oil cooler works the sensor needs to be placed near the output side of the cooler for the actual reading. If you place the sensor in the oil pan the oil temps will be higher. I have JES oil cap thermometer that reads the oil temps in the oil pan and its typically 30-40 degrees higher then the oil temp coming out of the oil cooler Im using.
