Helmet sound systems

I want to buy sound systems for our helmets. I bought the Scala Carbo Q2 for my son and his wife, but they ride together on the same bike. Can anyone tell me what you have and if you like it or not. I do not want a new helmet, just the system.

The wife and I use to have the Scala G4 headsets. These are the newest from Scala and they did work very well and have a built in AM-FM radio, you can plug in another music source, are bluetooth wireless...etc, but they are expensive. However with that all said we sold the set after having them for the past summer. Being bluetooth wireless was great in way but very quirky in another, hard to manage if one's not inclined in trhat direction. We rode in a group of four, they also had the G4's. Suppose to have voice activation but was hard to set up and or use even with the newest downlaod, so most of the time you ran with open mike's, so you heard every cough.sneeze..etc.

When it was just the wife and I, they worked very well. She used a full face shield, with the mike in a heavy wind sock and thus the wind noise would not trip the mike. ( She rides a VTX 1800 with lots of wind, while my GW is very quiet). We could talk, listen to music or radio. The talk over rides the radio and or music function, so when in the group with other G4's and they were riding with open face helmets, the wind noise would open the mikes and all you could hear was the wind noise, thus no radio or music. Plus they only have a mile range and that is under good conditions. Good for a couple but poor for a group....so we sold them and went back to old tech the CB radios.

As my GW already had a CB radio I got the J&M CB radio, which I had planned on getting for your ruby trike untill you bought it and now I put it in my wife's VTX. It has a cord that can plug into your music source, what ever that may be, has it's own volume control for that music, it's own volume control if your choose to set up and use the intercom for a passenger and or course it's own volume for the CB radio. Also has weather channels, hi/low power options..etc. The CB radio attaches to the left handlebar, cables running along handle bar with the Aux music cable going into the wife's windshield bag, there she can plug in her Ipod or other music source. I told her that I could even install a satelite radio and she could plug the aux cord into that and get music that way if she wanted. Of course all the sounds are sent to your helmet via headsets either from J&M or others as long as you have the correct downcords to plug in. The range is much better then the G4, we have talked up to five miles away, plus you can listen in on truck drivers and get the up to date road condtions, if needed. CB is an old tech set up but still works, there is some newer ideas out that use UHF instead of CB AM, but they all cost abpout the same. I got my entire set up for the J&M off Ebay as a package deal, easy to hook up, any questions let me know.

The Q2 sounds like what we are looking for. I'll review the CB set up with my husband as a really gread possibility. It was great to hear from you NamVet. I can't tell you how much I love "Ruby". After each ride she gets washed before I put her away.

This is what we're using...we like the sound, everything about it. We only use the rider to passenger setup though, and you do have to permanently install it on your machine. The head pieces must also be installed into your helmet (unless for the half helmets or beanies), but once there...

My wife and I who both ride our own trikes and use J&M Motorcycle Audio JMCB-2003 handle bar systems on our trikes. My system has CB, stereo radio, weather, and intercom. My wife's does not have intercom cause I never ride with her.

The CB work's great and I in joy the music.
