Hi, I'm looking changing the current 6 volt system on my WLA trike to a 12 volt system, apart from the obvious (battery, coil and globes) is there anything else I should take into consideration (generator, regulater ect)?

I believe the generator & regulator will have to be changed also.

Regulator for sure. I don't know if the generator is capable of producing 12-14V or not. Its a matter of how fast is turns. I suppose one could put a volt-meter on the output of the generator and see...may work? Generators and alternators produce more voltage than what is required....that's where the regulator comes into play.
I'd also make sure my wiring was in good shape. If you double the voltage in a system with the same resistance in the system, you will also double the current-flow.....as in fuses that use to be 10-amp now need to be 20-amp. You can't escape the math.....current=voltage/resistance.
I have done it on my 1956 Servicar. Change regulator, install later model 12v generator which are cheap on ebay (generator bolt holes will have to be enlarged slightly), light bulbs, fuses, horn?, battery, and coil. I wired mine from scratch, but I believe six volt has heavier wiring then 12 volt to start with, you need to check on that. Ask some one at the Flathead Power website, vast flathead knowledge there.
