CSC tyres wearing on the inside....

Hello folks...
I have a wee question.. I have just looked underneath my Goldwing 1800 CSC conversin and noticed that the tyres were wearing on the inside. I did read somewhere that there was an answer for this. Can't remember if I read it here or another site..
Anyway can anyone one of you kind folk enlighten me as to why this is so???

I am just guessing you have a Cobra kit with independent suspension. That has a double wishbone independant arm on each side. It is completely adjustable. go to CSC web site and download the installation instructions for your model. You may have to remove trunk to remove body so you have access to all of the adjustment and lock nuts you need to work on.

Sounds like whoever built your trike did not adjust them or do it properly

I also have a early model CSC Cobra. Before you go messing with the suspension adjustments, check for proper torque on the axle nuts, tire pressures, then check for wheel bearing play. All those can cause inside wear. Unfortunately the detailed adjustment page is not on the installation guide. I mentioned that to Kyle from CSC. Did a google search and found where someone had posted it.

On mine I found 1 bad wheelbearing, wasn't real bad, but replaced it. You can get after market ones easily. The toe-in was slightly out on the right side. Caster/Camber was fine. I used a 2 foot level (for straight edge) clamped to the rotor, and used the threaded part of the lower A-arm mounting bolts (reference point) to set the toe-in to zero.

You must put the wheel lugs on the rotor to keep it tight while doing this. Also checked the camber/caster same way but using the rear end housing as described in the install pics. This all can be done with the body still on. They suggest for the camber/caster to use a 4 ft level on the rotors with the wheels and body off, trike on a truly level surface.

Adjustment for toe-in is done using the adjustable heim joint to the rear of the upper A-arm. Caster/camber is more difficult as it uses the lower heim joint on the upright for adjustment. Hope this helps.

Also do a search for using 8 ft flourescent tubes for checking parallel and overall kit to bike alignment.

I have a 2007 Honda 1800 with a CSC Cobra kit. I have the rear tires wearing on the inside, the first three treads. Of course the rest is wearing to but not as fast as the inside. Is it possible to show me a picture of your lower a arm and or a measurement of the adjustable arm to give me an approximant. I don't seem to see it on the CSC site either how to set up.

JoJo...... Unfortunately this thread is 10 years old. But, you may get a response from someone knowledgeable. Otherwise, I would contact CSC directly. They are very responsive and helpful. Good luck..... Jim
