    Default Lift Kit Handling Results

    Had the Lift kit installed in my 11 T-Glide coupla weeks ago. Only chances I have had to ride since was with Sweet Wife snuggled behind me. She is outta town now. Went for a ride yesterday with one of my ridin' buds up the canyons to Idaho City, following the twisty river about 40 miles. He rides an 1800 cc two wheeled Honda. { not a Wing } In the past, he has always smoked me in the curves.
    Not this time. He couldnt lose me! Granted, I ride more aggressive without my wife behind me, but he always smoked me even when I didnt have her aboard.
    The bike handled so much better in the twisties I could not believe it, and neither could he!..." Everytime I looked in my mirror, there you were!!" Went thru some curves doing 75 that I couldnt go thru before going over 60.
    It felt like the front wheel was grabbing really well and the back end just stayed where it was supposed to. Went another 275 miles today up to Baker City Oregon by myself. All freeway but enjoyed the feel and the better ride characteristics much better. Doing engine mods next month. Cant wait! Thanks again Dennis for such a great product!!!!!!!

    I will say that these days, I ride more conservative on the TG than most do, even solo. I also feel that it now handles more positive and stable in curves.
    We have been able this season to put about 12K on trike and we both are very happy with it, both on the road and in town.
    I am sure that one of these days I will get the bug to chase riding friends through the curves, just glade the ones I ride with now are more the laid back riders like myself. Glad your experience with lift have been positive for your style of riding also, I have gotten allot of similar responses like yours from others.
    Like someone else stated on forum, now do the best modification you can do to a TG, add miles. Sounds like your area with canyons and such are allot prettier than corn fields of Indiana, but they can be pretty in their own way also.

    consider adding a S&S 510 gear cam to your t/g. i did mine at 11k , and its like a really aggressive bike to ride now. am sure other cams will work as well. but this eliminated the cam shoe. mine showed a lot of wear at 11k,

    Hey Dennis... Yeah,,screamin' thru the curves is not something we do every ride, that's fer sure. Depends on traffic and road conditions. There are many sweet ride routes here in Ideeeho!..We are lucky to have lots of mountain areas and desert situations also. Long riding season too.
    I ordered the parts to upgrade my Glide on Tuesday. Dealer will install next week!

    Black Widow mufflers
    255 Cam kit
    Adjustable lifters
    Lotta $$$ but sounds like it will be worth it.

    Yeah Trent, that wasn't your imagination. I reported the same astounding handling gain in another post. Others don't notice it at all. Apparently we are members of a new subset - hooligans on trikes. Whodathunk?

    Gear drive is nice until the crank shifts, the crank in my Triglide is at .005 RO right now which is greater than the .003 max they recommend. What was your RO before you installed the gears?

    Ha Ha!! Hooligans on trikes is pretty funny! I know a lotta bikers do not take trikes serious, but I dont care. My sister in law sez I look like a rhino on a stolen kids Big Wheel. But, I have not tipped over at a stop sign yet,,, and most likely never will. I love my trike and I am having as much fun on it as I ever did any two wheelers. Will have $40 grand invested after next upgrades and it is worth every dime to me. Cheaper than a boat, or snowmobiles, or four wheelers after I buy a nice truck and trailers to haul them around.

    I think you all are correct on the better handling. I feel it corners better and keeps the front end planted to the road better.

    Trent,don't know what year your bike is but you better get a guarantee if something happens to the motor they will replace that cam.I am going through that now.One of my lifters went out yesterday & HD won't warranty the cam.When I bought the bike I had them install a 259e cam,screamin eagle tuner,screamin eagle ported & polished heads, 10:5/1compression pistons V&H power dual headers & pro mufflers.They said they would warranty all that stuff if everything was screamin eagle(which it is).So good, lets do it. Now they said HD will cover everything but the cam.Now I have to fight with the dealership or Harley.They said it will cost me $200 to replace the cam.So much for the word of the Harley shop!!!!! Sucks don't it?????!!!!!! They got their money again!!Good Luck!!!!!!!!!

    That is pretty scary alright. Mine is an '11...and everything is supposedly under warranty. My dealer has worked really well with me so far, so hopefully I will not have to deal with any of those issues. The service guys are getting to know me well too which always helps. Of course I will update everyone about any problems I run up against. I am actually surprised they wont cover the cam. I would become a severe thorn in their side. I always remind them that I walked in here and paid cash for the most expensive bike on their floor,,,And I expect the service that should go with that. So far no problems.

    Went to the dealership first thing this morning.Bitched to everybody about how I thought I was getting the shaft about not warranting my cam.Still said no.I left.Soon as I got down the road a ways, one of the salesman called me & said everything was takin care of. Don't know what was said after I left. Will see what happens. I think the shop will absorb the cost of the cam. The lifter roller bearings went out on the back lifter. Wrecked the oil pump also.I asked about getting extended warranty coverage. They said Harley wouldn't do it since it is a high performance engine.That sucks!!! What else will go wrong.First they installed the rings wrong & now this.Should have kept my Ultra. Never had a problem with it.Only 7000mi. on the trike.The lifters must have been made in Japan.

    I've chatted with enough folks who have had problems I sometimes have a hard time keeping track of who is who and where. Didn't you have an issue with your engine blowing oil and the dealer said to run it a half qt low? Looks like they found out why you where blowing oil, I'll bet the scavenging side of the oil pump was trashed. I don't trust HD lifters anymore, I'm actually sceptical of most Harley Davidson engine parts since they are made by the lowest cost producer. In the case of the new 'C' lifters I think I remember reading they are made in Mexico. When your dealer sold you the engine modifications did they tell you the work would be covered under warranty if something would fail, sounds like they lied.
