Depends on how big the deer is , and what angle he hits the trike from, and mostly how good the rider is.
That's about all that will happen, for sure. Thankx for your input

I spose a deer can hit me, I am more concerned about ME hitting the deer.
I have hit deer with a 4 wheeler on two occasions. If I see that I am going to hit a deer, I am hoping to hit the brakes lower my head and not try to miss the deer. If I hit the deer, I weigh about 1400 pounds total with one rider, the deer weighs about 200 pounds. What happens after that is mostly out of my control.
More deer are killed by vehicles than hunters each year. Most deer are careful when crossing roads except when they are being chased by a predator or a dog having fun. My wife hit a deer and knocked both deer whistles off her car plus it did a couple of thousand dollars damage.
DEER WHISTLES.
HERE DEER,HERE DEER,HERE I AM.
Hubby noticed our "new" trike makes an odd whistling sound at about 40-60 mph. I wondered if it had those deer whistles on it--do they have to be exterior or could it be hidden under the fenders? (guessing not likely due to limited wind resistance) lol
Deer whistles are the very LAST thing I would depend upon for avoiding deer! Every review or report I have ever read says they do nothing to scare deer off. Save your money, slow down and use your eyes. I have so many deer on my place (surrounded by several hundred acres of forest) that my dogs just lay there and watch them graze. The only near miss I had was on in interstate at 2 pm on a Saturday afternoon when one jumped over me and my bike. Darn near had a heart attack.
Boy you must have much smarter deer where you live then we do here. They show NO care in crossing the highway and if a car is coming they will just try to run faster in front of it.They don't have to be chased by anything, just want to see if the grass is greener on the other side. I have seen them raise their heads from grazing and start accross the road for no apparent reason.I have had them race me along side the road, but turn the other way with a horn honk and I have had them run into as a large herd played follow the leader on to a busy hwy and I have had one run right in front of me even tho I was blasting the horn.Fortunately for both of us the car dived when I hit the brakes and flipped the deer up on the hood and she slide up the windshield then back down and slide down the road for about 20 ft before jumping up and running off.Did about $3,000 damage.
Not a deer BUT...
Hit a good sized armadillo once on a 2 wheeler.
Bent the rim and bent a bunch of spokes.
The armadillo rolled about 20 ft. stood up, shook his head and took off.
A friend of mine hit a 150 lb.wild pig and put him in intensive care for a few days and totaled his bike.
Gotta look W-A-Y ahead.
Ride safe!!! Lots of idiots out there!!!
Those deer whistles don't seem to phase the deer around here but I've had a couple of my friends have their horses darn near kill them when a car goes by with them. We can't hear them but the horses sure can . Off topic but just something to be aware of.
THose deer whistles have to work ! I was givin a set about 15years ago, threw the package on the dash in the motorhome and haven't hit a deer yet!!!!! (LOL)
"Been down so long that it looks like up to me" !!!
Friend of mine that runs a body shop sez those whistles will call them as well as anything he knows.RIDE SAFE
I did have a deer run into the side of my trike. Smack into the left fairing , spun and hit the rear fender of my Motor Trike. The deer didn't make out to well, and I had significant damage to the trike. All it did was rock the trike, no where near flipping it, created a long line of swear words from my mouth, and an extended wait to have the trike repaired properly. Even though I have been riding for 4o + years, this one surprised me. Be alert !
I swear by my Deer/Jackalope whistles. I'm pretty good at spotting Deer off the side of rode. And not once has a Jackalope run across my path!
I try not to ride from dusk till dawn. Where I live, there are zillions of wild hogs, deer, gators, bears, and who knows what running around. You can't drive a mile without seeing a few dozen buzzards munching on road kill. I live to ride...another day!
