Hi everyone, Been a triker for a whole day now after riding bikes for 54 years. It's like starting all over again and having to relearn how to ride. Now got a 2010 Gl1800 champion solid. I triked it at 8050 miles. I plan to really use this forum and take advantage of everyone's experience so I don't have to experiment everything myself. It's nice to have a place to get info and advise. I've already heavily read cornering forums and plan to try several techniques tomorrow.

Welcome, Shimpy!!! Take your time, and figure on about 500 miles before you feel really at ease with the steering. I hope you had a rake kit installed -- it will ease your transition to three wheels significantly!

Hey Steve, how do you like your handle bars? I put a set on this year & love them. What a big differance. Harley should put them on at the factory. But then they wouldn't make any money, right? I was going to drive down to see Dennis Swan so he could see how they feel, but the bike dropped a lifter & didn't make it down.The dealer had to order a new rear cam. Messed up the oil pump too.They said Harley wouldn't cover the cam because it wasn't stock.When the shop built the motor, they told me as long as I used Screamin Eagle parts it would be covered.That's $200 just for one cam. I went to the shop & bitched. They said don't worry about it,it's taken care of. we will see.Sorry to talk your ear off. Jim

Yes, they put a 4.5 Deg rake on. I wouldn't want steering to be any more sensitive at 70 mph than it is now. I've only put 100 miles on and have to watch myself if I'm going straight for awhile then come to a curve as I sometimes try to counter steer without thinking. I'm still trying to re-program my brain to react automatically. I'm enjoying my new experience riding a trike.

I love the bars, huge difference, no more big reach with the outside arm on slow speed turns. More like riding my couch. OUCH to the 'cam not covered story', I have six more years of extended warranty left, hope I don't find those issues down the road.

Got my bike back yesterday. Chilly riding it home. Just happened to go over to the shop after finishing a job. They said they just got on the phone to call me when they looked outside & saw my truck & trailer. Said it was done in the morning. Hope no more issuses for awhile. The HD shop paid for the cam. Still don't see why HD wouldn't cover it. It was the lifter that took out the cam & oil pump. Gotta go to breakfast now, later. Jim

Thanks Dave. I rode with the Nomads for about 6 months and now riding with the Goldwing club. I also do many RTE's (ride to eats) with the Prowlers who are located all over Fla. They don't do group rides, just name the restaurant and time and show up. Take whatever route you want and ride however you like, fast or slow. Sometimes several will ride together and there are 3 or 4 of us from The Villages.
