Little Help Needed

Alright boys and girls, I'm new here and could use a little help running down some vw #'s. I've got a 1987 Suzuki Cavalcade with a hand-made outrigger kit, we've put a little over 1000 miles on it with no problems. Just picked up a volkswagon trike that was started and never finished, it runs, got to build a body and do a few other minor things to it. Trying to figure out what year motor and transmission i've got. The motor #'s are AJ020968, it does not have a place for a mechanical fuel pump, but has a 1 bbl. carb. The trans. #'s are 113 301 1031. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know a lot about VW's, but my Haynes Manual says the AJ indicates the engine is a 1600 dual port, production date from Dec 1974 so it could be some newer than that. My book also indicates fuel injected, but if yours has a carb perhaps it is not fuel injected. I don't have anything on the transmission numbers.

welcome aboard glad you joined us. The no mechanical pump location support the F.I. engine retroed to a carb. No help on the trans sorry

Look on the bottom of the transmission right hand side the numbers are stamped there. The number you have is for the trans case cast number and was on the side correct?
