Triking Long Island to Tucson

Heading out in the we (or is that "me"?) hours of Monday morning. Quick job in Jeannette, PA (near Pittsburg). Then making a bee-line down I-70, etc to Oklahoma City. I-40 West. About an hour over the AZ line and then back roads the rest of the way to Saddlebrook (parents are retired there).
Anybody spots me down there, give a wave. I will be there all Thanksgiving week. Trike will also be at Tucson H-D for the 30,000 mile service maybe beginning of week.
Stopping at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City on way back for some business also.
I really need this (mostly) vacation. Obviously I don't do nearly enough miles on my '10 TG. This will be my 1st really, really long trike ride (done all lower 48 states on 2 wheels already).
BTW, at 25k service they flashed update into ECM. It's hard to tell completely in the current cooler temps, but I would swear 6th speed has more power.

As the weather looks right now, I expect to be hitting rain in PA. It looks like smooth sailing after that for the entire route. Worst happens is I have to add miles and detour south sooner than I plan.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I hit the road at 3am. just taking a break in PA for breakfast. if I can attach it correctly, it's a view or very red pre-sunrise. Heading towards rain in maybe 2 hrs.

Aaaaahhhhh! Played "Rain Roulette" and won again...But just barely. At every gas stop I checked radar to see if I needed to put rain gear on. 50 miles from customer it starts raining as I pull into gas station. Radar looked like it was mostly tracking just North of PA Trpk. Spun the wheel and hit the road. No rain rest of trip. Next up will be "Gas Roulette" somewhere on trip. Of course I cheat by carrying a gallon with me.

Looks like a rainy day today. At least until I get through Ohio. Might stop at AMA museum. Just have to get through a couple of hours work and I am home free until after Turkey Day.

wow BB your trip down here makes mine sound like a trip across town. From home (northern Colorado) to Tucson was a 955 mile two day trip and it was a super ride. no rain no snow and no wind. very lucky I guess. anyway, going on 3 weeks down here now and staying until early April. If you end up at the dealership on friday or monday, let me know, I,d like to ride up and exchange a story or two with ya.

On another note. I had about 100 miles of rain. Took the rain gear off before Columbus, OH. Then stopped in the AMA motorcycle museum for a tour. Now stopped in Dayton for dinner. Maybe stopping for night after Indianapolis, IN.

Here's a couple of pics from museum. Only one trike and one sidecar there. Plenty of cool old bikes though. Walked through for almost 1 hr. If I had time probably could have stayed even longer.
Did I mention that snow flurries might be happening tonight where I am?

Had planned to go through the night...Then the rain mixed with sleet mixed with low 30's mixed with darkness mixed with radar showing 100 miles of this stuff stopped me for the night in Joplin, MO. Only made a piddling 520 miles today. Did spot the pictured reverse trike scooter in the next hotel over.
