Best Place to Live?

If you could live anywhere in the US or the world, where would it be and why? I'm looking around and may want to be your neighbor one day...

Stay out of New York, high taxes, no jobs, but real pretty country and gets very cold here and lots of snow too. in the winter time.

I have lived pretty much all over the world,,, in the military... we love Alabama and intend to stay here... taxes are not bad and the weather is not too cold...love the small towns... don't have to ask anyone what I can do on my own property. Can get to the ocean in a couple of hours or to the mountains in a couple of hours....

Scalp Hunter's happy here in Central Texas, but I miss East Tennessee's four real seasons and real rain and a little snow and some suthren accents and real cornbread and fried bluegills and . . .

Well, Zook, I guess that leaves out my favorite part of the country. It's Michigan's Upper Peninsula, especially the Keweenaw. Houghton averages 208 inches of snow a year. When I lived there we used to say the UP has 4 seasons:
Winter, June, July and August.

For great riding and mild winters I like the Ozarks.

Key Largo Fl is really nice for everyday living. I do not like to be cold. I love then riding out a couple of times a year to see the 4 season world.

If I had one place I'd love to go back to it would be 'Coeur D Alene', Idaho.

I visited there years ago and completely fell in love with the NorthWest! I don't mind snow and cold weather. I actually prefer it over the hot summer. The majesty of the NorthWest can only truly be experienced by visiting there. No pictures or movies really do it justice! IMHO.

I love Long Island. Now if I could only get 75% of the people to move away, it would be perfect. I do plan on retiring (well in future, barring a lottery win) to the Southwest. I like Tucson area.

Don't know why you would want to leave the HEART OF DIXIE.It is the best place in the new nighted states.

I like central Florida. No taxes, 2 hours from either coast and Orlando, lots of hilly twisty country roads with little traffic. I ride year-round.

Bama north is different than Bama south Lucky. You're pretty much in Tennessee!...been here all my life and about to have an empty nest before long. For one thing its too blasted hot and humid down here (12 miles from the Fl line) not to be by the water and the town I live in runs off more business than it attracts. Sony Plant closed, two G.E. plants closed, a brand new Casino was recently closed by the Guv'nor and small businesses closing left and right, we've lost several thousand jobs in the last two years...we're not in a big hurry, but yeah, we're ready for a change of scenery and are starting to look.

You really can't beat East Tennessee! But I must add that I really love the southwest. I would like two homes, wait maybe three! Forget that, I have a toy hauler, so I will keep my Tennessee home and then just go where I want to. Right now it is Fl. After Thanksgiving, will move the toyhauler to Naples. Planning on riding the Keys.

after 64 wnters in colorado, minus the 4 in the military, I am spending this winter in Tucson. so far so good, riding almost every day down here.

If your into winter sports and snow then New England is a beautiful place to live..On the other hand,if peaceful tranquility-lower taxes and the freedom to advoid the larger populations is what you seek-we've found that southern middle Tn. has all we could of asked for...and a much longer riding season.......

Hard to beat Florida if you stay out of the tourist area's. Good weather for old bones...
