    Default Seat Shopping

I'm shopping for a new seat. I have a stock '09 seat that I had Mean City Cycles adjust for me. They did a great job, but I'm being tempted by the 'Road Zepplin'. I know I know, they're expensive, but so is Russel Day Long, Mustang, corbin etc. I'm leaning toward the Zepplin because I understand I can keep my stock Harley rider backrest. Anyone have strong positive or negative input about the Road Zepplin or other extraordinary seat ?

I have been riding on a Mustang for years, no reason to get anything else.

The mustang seat I got for my TG uses my stock backrest. I really like the seat. Mean City did my HD reach seat, but it just didn't help me at all. For one season, then the back and butt pain started again. The mustang seat seems to do the trick.

I noticed when I bought the rode Zepplin seat that you sit a bit higher than stock seat. but it is much more comfortable. You will have to tweak the air bladders to find your comfort zones.

I've had a Road Zepplin seat on my last 3 bikes and will never be without one. You can throw away money on any static seat(non adj.) and it will be the same forever, but an air seat you can change constantly to your needs. If you get sore in one position you can change it immediately - not with a static seat - there you'll have to squirm to a new lposition.
The air seat for the older models was the best because it had a center bladder, which they removed on the new air seat.

If you don't do long trips - like 200 to 300 or more miles a day - you shouldn't need any special seat. I average 700 miles a day per trip and at 67 years old I'd never be able to last that long on a non adj seat. Next year I'm planning on a Iron Butt ride so I'll really need one.

Once you get it adjusted I think you'll be good. I've put about 10,000 miles on mine and have no regrets.

I don't think there is such a thing as "Once you get it adjusted that's it" because after a while you will be adjusting to a different position to keep from getting numb cheeks, and then a while later you will change it again. That's the whole idea of an adjustable air seat, to constantly change the pressure points. I bet I readjust my seat 4 or 5 times on a 100 mile trip.

Like msocko3 said, I have no regret buying a Road Zepplin seat. I don't think my old skinny butt could take anything other then the air seat.

41inwv, don't forget that when you have the seat inflated all the way, your feet will be a little higher off the ground - in case you have a short inseam.

Short inseam is okay on the trike. I learned my........ "Don't put your feet down"......... lesson immediately after I ran over my own foot with the back tires the first time.

What a nice felling seaat...couldn't ride this evening, but I will in the next couple days....Looking forward to it.

I've found for me I don't have to make air bladder adjustments. I run a 3,400+ mile round trip this summer and never had to make an adjustment. I will however temper that with everyones back side has different requirements. Mine with how I have the Zepplin adjusted can run from one tank of gas to the next without any changes. The only problem I have is my left knee starts getting stiff and hurting after awhile.

    msocko3, I wish I had your butt - -
My skinny a$$ can't sit very long in one position - even in my LazyBoy.
That's why the air seat is my one and only solution......and it works great.
Maybe if I got off the bike every 100 miles or so I could get away with not adjusting the seat, but once I'm on the bike I hate having to stop.

41inWV, I'm so use to posting on regular Harley forums, I forgot we don't have to worry about inseams anymore.
