Anti-Freeze leak

I noticed an anti-freeze leak on the garage floor under MJ's 2008 stallion. The leak was coming from the leftside under the radiator lower hose. Just above the lower hose is a capped pipe coming out of the side tank of the radiator. This cap is made of rubber and is held in place with a hose clamp. The rubber of the cap itself was deteriorating to the point it was leaking right through the cap. This rubber cap was not chemical resistent to anti-freeze. Replaced it with a cap made out of 5/8 heater hose plugged at the end. Suggest you check this cap on your Stallion so that you do not have it fail while on the road.

Mine started leaking on a ride in moutains. Lots of fun replacing in middle on nowhere. I did the same thing TMS sent me a replacement cap. Will not change out current fix.

unless they changed the composition of the cap material, I would not use it either.

</div>sorry it is history. It will be very easy to see. Look at the lower raditator hose just above it will be w pipe sticking out about 3 inches with a cap on the end held with a hose clamp. MIne was leaking through crackes in the rubber cap. Easy to see. Cracks should be showing even if not leaking. I would suggest replacing just so it doesn't strand you somewhere. Easy to replace.

I've been getting several leaks, I have an 08 model and the first leak I had was on the top end around where you see the turn signal flasher. There is a rubber cap like you were talking about before. Then I got a leak on the bottom under the left side where the curved pipe comes down and meets the stright pipe going back to the radiator. It seems like every clamp has gotten loose so just as a warning, before you go for a long trip you might want to check all hose clamps.

i had a leak repaired also.....it was leaking on the side of the radiator.....ford dealership called TBMS, and they suggested to have the radiator re-crimped , well it worked.....so far so good.....and as long as I'm on the road again.......ALL IS GOOD <br />

I had to do a repair on mine last week. The bottom hose right where it comes off the engine had a hole worn in it from the fuse box. Yes I said fuse box, the bottom of the box has plastic bracing and that is what rubbed a hole in the hose. When I had the hose off I used a small grinder and removed about a 1/2 inch. It looked like it had been done before. Just something else to keep an eye on.

hello-- in reference to the rubber cap on the radiator--i have a 09 and the tube&cap is on the coolant hose ,in the engine compartment near the transmission dip stick. mine was deteriorated -replaced with radiator hose" plugged" at one end--will probably last longer than "Cheap Charlie" cap. thank you

You know what riverrat, I looked at my '09 when I saw the first posting come out and I couldn't find it either.
