Header pipe

Would wrapping a stock header pipe on a 2011 Tri Glide help reduce some of the heat felt by rider. I know it wouldn't get rid of it but might insulate it from rider. Thanks George

wraping the pipes would also reduce the heat on the brake switch and the rear master cylinder. . or i', thinking maybe makeing a heatshield for mine.your best bet would be to get a '09 t/g ft. pipe. ( as the '09's do not have a CAT) or remove the cat as others have done. don't know if tx has a annual bike safety insp. or not.but wait till the warrenty is up. & with the ext. warrenty thats a long time, so wraping the cat with looks like your best option. maybe j c whitney still has a p/n for the bandage wrap i think they call it now. good luck.

Thanks, here in Texas O'Reileys auto parts sell the fiber glass wrap, I have used it on the exhaust on some industrial sweeper applications. I have had the recall done and don't want to void my waranty. My dealer of choice here Wiskey River Harley in Texarkana Texas has been great about waranty service good people to do busniess with

I took the chrome heat shield off, wrapped the cat area with high temp exhaust wrap, then put the chrome heat shield back on. It did cut down on the heat, then I put a header on without a cat in it.

I have a 2010 gutted head pipe from a 2010 TG for sale...

I have a gutted head pipe too, and I'm thinking about having it ceramic coated and then wrap it with fiberglass tape. Sounds excessive but I think this will reduce the heat and still wind up being cheaper then buying a ceramic coated, aftermarket head pipe without a cat.
