VTX 1300 conversion

My wife has been pushing me to get a trike and get rid of the 2 bikes that I have. Not a bad idea but they are expensive to buy new. So, I am thinking of triking my '06 VTX 1300 which only has 13,000 miles on it. Does anybody have any suggestions or ideas (based on personal experience) on which conversion unit would be best? Any thoughts would be appreciated as I have had no experience with trikes. Thank you.

Hey VLow, welcome to TrikeTalk! We have a number of VTX owners here, and I know you will get a lot of great replies. The VTX sure does make a nice trike..... you won't regret it.

Welcome aboard x2 what Nana posted. Champion makes a nice VTX conversion, but the installer is the real key to how happy you will be.

Went with a Roadsmith kit myself. Did 90% of the work myself with a a few extra hands when needed. Check them out and look at their instructions. Well laid out.

I have an 1800, and went with a Roadsmith conversion, best kit I found.

I think most of the major trike kits are well built and designed. Biggest factor i would take into consideration is where i would have to go for service -repairs----have found this to be the biggest obstacle in the "trike community"

Thanks for the invite, Road Dog. I'll take you up on it in early March if the invitation is still good then. Did you do the conversion yourself or did you have it done locally? Does the 1300 have the muscle? Also, if you don't mind sharing your thoughts, what made you choose Champion as opposed to some of the other units. Thanks for your input.

Hello from Arkansas! I have a 1300C with the Champion conversion, and I really like it. Bought it new from the dealership about 80 miles from home! Not having anything else to compare to I wouldn't know if other companies offer a better product. I have about 17,000 miles on so far and no problems!

My Wife's Trike is a 2006 VTX1300R with a Motor Trike Kit, and one Bazooka's 6 Degree Rake Kits.....





...it's turned out to be a Really, Really Good Trike.....

I have 95% finished my 2006 vtx 1300r conversion I got a Roadsmith with all the bells and whistles. then added a storage box w/extra large passenger pad. mustang seat the 5 % is what I need to make my wife stop Grousing.. Any sugestions on Passenger footrest armrests and some kind of a handle or strap? to hold around corners. Any advice?

I used a HD grab rail from a bagger. Bent slightly to match the fender.

I like Champion too.. But, Gorilla has hit the nail on the head.. Bad installer = Bad conversion.

You need to look again. The Web site shows one for both the 1300 and 1800. Same write up so it might be the same kit, but there are 2 different listings.
