Default New Mufflers Installed

Another one of my winter projects was to swap out the exhaust and I got that done over the holidays.

I went with the fuelmoto headpipe, a very popular upgrade to our bikes. So I won't go into the details on that.

However, I went with some mufflers from Vance & Hines referred to as their Classic Slash-Cut Slip-Ons. They are pretty much a standard 4-inch muffler with a fiberglass-wrapped baffle. The chromed billet end caps really add to the overall look. I believe they are designed for pre-09 bikes (those without catalytic converters) but they bolt right up to the newer bikes as well. I think the look very nice tucked under the trike body.

Although Vance & Hines describes these mufflers as being aggressive-sounding, I don't think they are that loud. Instead, they have a very throaty, deep rumble to them.

Looks GREAT !! I recently went to the Harley Museum and seen a 2012 Harley on the floor,so I went under the bike to see how much room the newer TRI GLides had for room to remove the rear muffler bolts on that rear bracket had and I was amazed how much room it had compared to the older TRI Glides..

Yes, I do have the lift brackets installed. In fact, that was the very first mod I made to the trike the day I brought it home. I knew all along what mufflers I was going to go with (I had these same mufflers on a Road King I use to own) and I knew I would want the additional ground clearance that the brackets provide.

Right on! I would like to get the V&H Deluxe Slip on Mufflers for our '10 TG along with the Power Duals. How does the Power Duals compare to the FuelMoto Headpipe? Did you go with the Tour Pak Relocator as well?

I really couldn't give you a good comparison between the Power Duals and the Fuelmoto head pipe. I know that the Fuelmoto pipe is highly recommended, made from stainless steel, and allows me to use my factory heat shields.

I have not yet purchased the tour pak brackets but plan to eventually. It's a pain to clean under the tour pack now in it's current location.

I have the power dualls on my 2011. love them. Can't compare them to anything else. My 2004 Ultra didn't have cats, so the head pipes were stock. Had the V&H oval mufflers on that. Now I have the huge V&H Pro mufflers with the Power Duals. Sounds really good. Too loud for most people, but I think they are awesome. Gives me more horsepower too. But I have 100hp that makes them sound even better.

You know the engine isn't stock.

I have the Power Duals on my '11 also with V&H Black Widow mufflers. I love the way they sound. Deep and rumbly. A Buddy said they sound like a 454 with glass packs on it.

Thought maybe you would be interested in V&H mufflers height from bottom of muffler to floor on a 2011 Triglide, before and after, 1 1/2" shock lift kit installed.
    Before: 4-5/8" with 50 # in shocks.
    After: 6-1/4" with 30 # in schocks.

I tried to attach photos, but not sure photos are actually attached.

Nice job John. Looks great, unique.

Glad to hear you are happy with them. I know we talked some on this subject before I redid mine. Just curious, is the head pipe cat-less? What tuner and intake did you go with?

Rob - I installed a FuelMoto stainless, catless header and will be using a TTS MasterTune and a Screamin Eagle intake. I have everything on-hand but I'm still running the stock air cleaner and ECM calibration until the weather warms up and I have time to devote to some v-tuning. I'm really looking forward to waking this bike up a little bit.

Mr. Wizard recommends the TTS so let us know how you do with it.

    John,
So, a stock ECM with a gutted head pipe and aftermarket mufflers huh? Interesting. When the time comes TTS will be what I use as well. Simply put, it seems to be the most widely used tuner on this site for the Tri-Glide. There are some (rebels) using other brands that I'm sure would be excellent support sources should the need arise but my gut says TTS.

My Kerkers definitely got louder the more miles I put on it after installing them. Now I am contemplating wrapping the header I bought before installing it. I have been told by three reliable sources that ceramic coating would not make much difference, and one of them makes and sells them so. On the other hand, a report I recently found stated the opposite, and talks about wrapping like it's the plague.

I am still out on what intake to buy. SE, Arlen Ness, Kuryakyn, and now a new one on at the top of my list but I really don't see what separates them from one another. When I read the descriptions they all sound the same. I know I like the stainless steel filter screen look, but this new one is completely see through. Kinda cool and unique if they all work the same way.

Anyway, glad you are happy, that's all that matters.

I just installled V&H Power Duals on my 2010, gained a little power and hopefully moved the heat some. Been a great ride so far, we'll see.
