Hi to all! I've become interested in trikes over the years and now feel that a trike may be the best option for "keeping my knees in the wind", given a few orthopedic issues that I've experienced. I absolutely love to ride and want to get involved in the trike community, as well as learn about trikes, in general.

Thanks for the welcome messages! I fell off my bike in June and herniated two discs in my neck and tore up my rotator cuff. I had surgery on my neck two weeks ago (donor bones and plates installed) and the shoulder repair (and a lot of PT), is coming up next. I'm not likely to go back to two wheels, as the condition of my spine (in general), isn't good and another major "get off", may put me in a wheelchair. Less aggressive riding and a trike will keep me in the game, for sure! It's about time that I slow down and smell the roses!

My wife of 31 years is behind me 100% on getting a trike, so I'm just going to be hanging around here trying to learn about them from all of you. When I get back in shape I'll be ready to start down the path of trike cycling!!

Hope you will join your fellow Floridians and come up to our Fifth Rally in the Valley, the fourth weekend in June - - whole bunches of trikers from all over the country (and some from outside the US) show up and enjoy great times with each other!! Again, thanks for all the welcome messages and thanks for the invite, Blondie Gal! That rally sounds like a lot of fun! I'm working hard to get "healed up", so I can acquire and then start riding a trike.

I'm grateful that these things exist, as I really won't be able to get back on a two wheeler without feeling that if I fell off hard, I might be in serious physical trouble. I've never driven a trike, but had the chance to ride on the back of a good friend's, new Tri Glide over the weekend, though my neurosurgeon would probably not have approved, as I only had neck surgery a little over two weeks ago. "Donk", took it real easy on the ride and it was as smooth as my Chevy Tahoe. He bought one due to knee issues. I was extremely impressed with the solid feel from the passengers seat, even though we ran mostly on rural gravel roads. Very secure feeling compared to a two wheeler. I think my wife will truly enjoy a trike, as she has never liked the two wheeled "feel", and as a consequence, I've ridden mostly solo over the years. When Donk gets his bike down this way (from the Gainesville area), he's promised me that he'll take Sue out for an easy ride.

I'm hoping that she likes it enough that we can at least do a few morning breakfast runs, etc., as well as meet like minded folks along the way. Who knows? Maybe we'll do some overnight trips too. I'm really hoping we can do some of these things!!
