Wow,I really respect all of you guys in your fight to deal with medical problems and keep riding.I'm still working and I'm a respiratory therapist and I treat people with Copd with oxygen, etc. and I would never think that any of them could ride not alone with oxygen. You are to be commended. My story is tame compared to others. I have 2 total hips done so I have plenty of metal in me to set off any machine.Don't have the strength to hold up a 2 wheeler so went with the trike in 07.Off course entire body with osteo arthritis which lead to the 2 surgeries.Again you guys are amazing. Ken

Your no slouch yourself old son!

I got my trike on it's wheels today and couldn't even wait for a seat to run it around the block.

I still have some work to do on it before i can get it out on the road for test runs.
Ron and i have only just gotten started painting the body.
The important thing right now is to be sure it's road worthy.

It's almost a shame to have ridden it around the block once, It just makes me hungry for more.
Go on over to- pcombe/photobucket/library -and check it out?

Nice, good to hear its coming along.

Hey Zook i didnt see this until today thanks
I used to ride as a teen and young man then wives children and work all took life as i used to know it. Then i was in a head on collision with a drunker driver than myself. Hospitals and a lot of down time 4 years worth i managed to get upright and functioning although a little tilted as i had lost 4 inches off the left leg until about 2000.

All wives (at the time) gone, children gone, semi retired but still put in my time. So its time to ride and i knew i couldnt ride on two i always liked trikes but had never ridden one. I bought a little meetermaid trike just to see whats going on in the world. Well i started buying selling trading semi building and here we are now. My Big trikes to date are a couple of wings,a Valkyrie, a Rune Trike, and now my Harley.

Then in 2010 infection showed up after 20 year remission now i have a prostetic knee down on the left. I still ride a minimum of 10k a year. Not much comes out of my mouth that doesnt have something to do about trikes, Trike trips , and whats coming out new?

Don't ever let a disability get you down it's a oppertunity to advance!!!!

Welcome aboard JJ.
Glad you found us!

My trike is complete save for a few minor details!

I tried to upload some pictures to my profile but it won't let me do it?

In the meantime please google --pcombe/photobucket/library--

and it will give you pictures from bike-to-trike.

It took me longer to do the job, but i love the results!

Who says we are disabled?

:Coffee: Just a shout to all who prescribe to this thread.

I'm happy and riding my trike, How are all my friends fairing these days?

The batteries on my portable oxygen unit have been getting a work out.
Each one lasts about five hrs before recharging and i have three of them,
(two that come with the enogen unit). I can roll a lot of white lines under my wheels in 15 hrs.

My old tour glide trike doesn't have a strong enough charging system to run lights as well as charging the batt. on the oxygen unit.
I would almost bet a new tri-glide might judging by how many pretties my friends run on theirs?

Hi

Weather has been perfect here so I've been getting a few miles under my wheels. I rode out on Thursday evening to a regular vintage and classic night at a cafe about 50miles away. There were about a hundred bikes lots of old British iron and a few HD customs.

The ride back in the growing dusk through small villages, the smell of the wild garlic and the woodsmoke from the cottages who still cook on stoves. The sun setting bright red behind the Lake District mountains. I felt like a very rich man indeed.

I will post some photos once I get them uploaded.

Sounds like some riding worth doing!
I will look forward to the pics brother.

Thanks Bazooka for starting this thread. I became disabled in early 2009 from a chronic exposure to toxic contaminants. I have what is called an invisible disability. The symptoms mimic things like ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease), Parkinson's disease, Gulf War Syndrome etc...I am very thankful to this site for the information that I was able to access which inspired me to convert my 2 wheeler to a trike. It was a happy day to be back in the wind.

Thanks again.

Paul,
My gold wing charging system seems to handle the charging of my portable concentrator just fine. In fact i think the batteries recharge quicker on goldwing then on AC power in the house. I also have a Helios Liquid Oxygen tank that last about 10 hrs on 4 LPM which i absolutely love.
And in a pinch I have a 32 AH Deep cycle trolling motor battery rigged with 12VDC accessory plug that will extend the run time on my portable concentrator if i plan on being away from shore power longer then my oxygen tanks allow. As you can see, my backups have backups,,lol

Paul, I just finished looking at pcombe/photobucket/library and have to give you a pat on the back for a job well done. That is a nice looking ride you got there. Congratulations on a job well done.
