    First trike build engineering questions...

I agree that the rake/trail calculator numbers are somewhat muddying the conceptual layout. That myriad of calculations prompted a bit too much drill-down on my part. So for the sake of simplifying let me offer a bit more reserved comments and considerations. One of the trikes I have built in...

    First trike build engineering questions...

ThumbUp Sounds like an enthusiastic start to designing a fun and safe trike. I think your basic layout will need to be a bit more defined to really offer good recommendations. My early comments; if a conventional engine forward arrangement is envisioned, then the CG falling under the passenger...

Coil over shocks on VW trikes

I use coilovers with no torsion bars. 7-step adjustable spring rate provides good ride under any conditions. With early trikes I built that incorporated VW torsion bars I found that properly adjusted spring plates and good condition stock shocks provided excellent ride.

    Clutch Cable set up?

If you want to make up a spare you might consider going to a local builder's supply and picking up a 'spindle loop' (see image below) of appropriate size for the pedal end of your clutch cable. With a good swage fitting to secure the cut cable you can make a clean unit that will last. If...

    Type 2/4 automatic transmission

While I have not specifically done the adaptation you describe, I have done some work with T3 auto into std IRS suspension. And so far as I am concerned, most anything is possible if you follow some basics. So, here goes. 1) First, the basic measurement which is a must is the alignment of the...

    wilmac master cylinder

The WilMac kits used a standard round type master cylinder made for dune buggies. Below is an image straight from the WilMac Assembly Manual showing the mc on the frame. As shown in the link at the bottom of this message replacement master cylinders of this type are readily available online...

    SVDA distributor help

Drive Gear Removal Tool, Gear Slot Alignment for #1, Dist Drive Gear Components The distributor drive gear is not perpendicular to the motor case. Check the steps I outlined in a previous post (ref: 34pict flat spot): "The distributor anti-chatter spring looks like and is slightly larger than...

    Solex throttle bracket

Here's the bracket. You bend the mount hole down by 90 degrees and mount with the top motor mount bolt (opposite the starter). It will line up with the cable tube - and if you don't have one, I recommend you get one or use 1/4" copper tubing with a hose clamp on either side of the fan housing to...

    Post Your VW Trike Pics

My first trike (center one) built in 1969 to 1971. Silver, Blue and Tangerine metalflake. This photo is at the Rat's Hole bike show on the boardwalk at the beach in Daytona Beach during Bike Week in 1980. Rode it down from Tennessee for a great week of custom built motorcycles. That night we had...

Hi from the other side of the pond

Here are the two basic methods for mounting steering dampers. Ohlins seems to prefer the second type (which could be mounted to the bottom of the trees as well to get it out of sight a bit). To get the best use of the damper you have, you need to know some specs on it and make sure your mounting...

    Trike or Camper

Not VW powered but this local trike is about the best example of self-contained triking that I could imagine.

    Welcome Trike Mid Step

Sorry, previous post lost the photo I had in it. Let me try again. I will vouch for the utility and comfort of these floorboards! I just wish they had been around a couple of years back when I made my own to fill our needs for easy mounting. I surely tired of doing the pants-leg chicken dance...

    vw trike frame

I have a few NovaTrikes frame kits available to my friends (and TrikeTalk/TOI members are on that list). With the frame kit I provide a fully welded frame (no welding - none), just paint and assemble. With the frame comes fenders, 4 piece fairing set (l&r sides, door, chin spoiler), special...

Post Your Harley Trike Conversion Pics

Re: Post Your Harley Trike Pics Here's a shot of my current Harley trike, a 2008 FLSTF. Candy Sunglo Red with a decent smidgeon of bling. Motortrike conversion plus in the Fall of 2013 I had the tranny shipped to Baker Drivetrain to have them install one of their F6R kits. I got back a factory...

    Universal trike kit or similar

While I've butted in and stolen your thread (sorry), since you mentioned your HD/VW trike, I thought you'd be interested in a photo of this Nova/HD trike complete with a fully automatic transmission.
