    Before you buy a trike

As a reminder, before ever buying a trike, get the VIN and be sure to enter it here (CARFAX). In the last couple of months, there's been several trikes brought here for service/repair. Once the plastic is off, it becomes easy to see that the bike, now a trike, had been in a major wreck prior...

    The importance of maintanence

In the last couple of weeks, 2 customers have call in the middle of cross country trips asking for help on a fellow person's Wing that they are traveling with. In both cases, the Wings in question had to turn back and not continue. Of coarse it affects the other people on the tour too. So...

    2024 GoldWing

For the 2024 GW, this video promises a lot. A 2000cc with better wind protection , larger saddlebags, rear camera, a suspension upgrade, and the list goes on.

    Oil filters for GL1800s

FYI ... to tell if an oil filter is intended for a particular application, look in their oil filter catalog. Below is a picture of one that is not intended, designed or engineered, for a GL1800.

Another one without a swivel hitch

Another one where the trailer flips and takes the bike and rider too. He should have had a swivel hitch.

Don't forget to follow your maintenace schedule

As a reminder, every trike manufacture should have a maintenance schedule. Usually they can be found on their web pages. Once a bike is triked, it now has 2 maintenace schedules ... on from Honda and one for the trike. It's important to remember that those schedules assume your riding under...

    An oil change

A 2005 came in yesterday for tires and an oil change. The owner recently bought it. On its first test ride, I returned telling my Tech that the tranny shifts where extreemly bangy, and I kept waiting for it to hiccup in 5th ... but it never did. As it turned out, the oil was extreemly black...

We won't work on this either

The Honda dealer sent him to us ... they got out of it using their 10 year rule. The guy comes in for tires. Until this mess of wires in the fork tunnel area, is corrected to where we don't have to worry about him going into a curve, and not being able to straighten his bars caused from wires...

    Crucible Orange Metallic

My 5th gen Wing's color is Crucible Orange Metallic. Because the right saddle bag was damaged years ago by a fellow rider, and because it's color was faded, I removed all 36 painted pieces, and took them to a paint shop that speciallizes in m/c painting. The shop is near a major trike dealer...

    Aftermarket starters

Good news ... installing an aftermarket starter can save a few hundred dollars. Bad news ... most aftermarket starters often fail shortly after, and some sheer their hold pin. If that happens, the engine needs removed and the metal found. Good news ... on this one, with the engine out, and...

    Tranny from Australia

This was just received from Australia, and it was sent from a m/c repair shop there. I'm not sure what the complaint was on the Wing that it came out of, but I can tell that it's out of a 2014-15 Valkyrie, or from a 2014-17 F6b. Unfortunanly, when Honda changed their gear design for years...

Starter spins but will not turn engine

Apparently the prior shop didn't know to never, ever, under any circumstances, situations, or conditions, install anything other then an OEM starter. OEM starters must come from a Honda dealer, and only come in Honda packaging. This perfect, look-a-like-knock-off, POS, aftermarket starter, has...

5th gen plastic is drying up quick

For a 2001-10, last week I tried to buy the last 2 lower center cowls. They are currently on BO with no ETA. The lower center cowl is the silver cowl between the fog lamps. The same is true for visors from 2006-07. The visor is the black plastic between the dash cluster and the windscreen...

    COVID's over

When I was picking up parts at a Honda dealer yesterday, I was told that the market is quickly changing to a buyers market, and having to pay list price for a new toy is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Basically, what I saw was a packed showroom with lots of product for sale. COVID's...

For Christmas my gf did not get me a Honda gift card for a 2018 6th generation GoldWing :(

    Rat's nest in air box

It's been a while since I've seen a "rats nest" in an air box. In most cases it's really from a mouse and from northern bikes that come here for service. In this case, since this Wing will now live in Florida, he is choosing to not put screens across the openings of his air-ducts...

The local Honda dealer called me today

They called to inform me of when they'll have the new GoldWing in their showroom. Basically, I told them that I was not looking to walk around one just to drool over one, I was interested in buying one. I was told they are taking deposit of $2000.
