ive lived all over FL...honestly im wanting to move to NC..better riding, nicer living etc...we are in tampa area (brandon) now and get down to ft myers here and there...id say its quieter down there than where im at. depends what you like. its more expensive there. summers are hot and long.

i would suggest using something like homeaway.com...rent a house in different parts where you would THINK you would like to retire...try it out for week or so and get a good feel for the area.
