Opal Areas

We'll a little info please. My spouse has #1 on her bucket list as visiting an Opal Mine or one of the under-ground house area in the mine area. Hard to locate the right areas to visit and if it something that we can rent a vehicle to go and visit or if this is something that is guided... any help and info is appreciated... i would say Coober Pedy it the best known undergound town in Australia but ive never been there. try googling it. i know it has underground pubs and churches. its in northern south Australia. the tricky bit is its a 9 hour ride from the nearest city which is Adelaide. im sure there would be some air transport available

no, not according to the local council

worlds largest opal mine area so far only 10% mined..
also ther is bus and air services to Coober pedy
