In my 27 yr. career as RN I have had the honor of speaking with many a men from "The Greatest Generation" who served our country in the Armed Forces. Just from speaking with them I knew they were made of a different metal. The way they described they're experiences with such depth and emotion. It was very apparent they were forever changed men. Some for the better, some not. All are/were living history and should be honored for their bravery and courage. On a side note my most recent exchange occurred with a Filipino women who was present during the Japanese invasion of the Philippines. She described the Japanese soldier's characters and behaviors and the aerial dog fights above her. Just WOW! Again living history.

Just sharing my memories.

Sorry about hijacking your post.

I'm what is often referred to as a "Cold War Vet " 1960-- 1967 Army.

I try and sit down and talk with as many Vet's from any era as I can , I learn so much every time.

The ranks are getting pretty thin from the folks from WW11 and Korea .

God love them all.
