Side pod door open signal

Hi,

I recently acquired an '08 Honda GL1800 California Side Car Cobra trike with Power Track and only 2,500 miles on the clock. Obviously, it had been sitting for some time & has those typical "sitting forever" problems. I believe I've ironed most of them out with one exception. Today I found the lower trunk has an interior light, but it did not work. Checking further I found the wiring to the light switch disconnected & a 5-amp accessory fuse powering this circuit blown in the fuse panel. I replaced the fuse, tested the wires & reconnected them to the light etc. The light worked. All good there.

Once I started the rig though a signal came up indicating the side pod door was open. I checked the left lever on the top box but that was retracted. The center box upper was also retracted & the rt. lever that operates the lower trunk door seemed fine also.

I am not sure on this set up what the left door lever is connected to since it has no purpose on my rig or what specifically is sensing the "open" door. If anyone has run into this situation, please let me know. thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Frisco ..Welcome to Trike Talk on your first post…👍👍..

I have not had to mess with the switch on mine but I believe it is in the trunk in the latch area. When mine does that a firm push on the door usually is enough to turn it off.

Thanks for the responses. I have tried adding a little more "umph" to the door closing. That did not work. I do have an '05 Gl1800 & that works on it. I also tried removing the 5-amp fuse for the trunk light circuit that I had reconnected Friday. That did not stop the warning picture from flashing.

In getting the light to work I removed the black plastic cover that hides the catches and light circuitry. Does anyone know which catch (left or right) that actuates the sensor to the warning?

Checking further, I found this on a Goldwing forum:

"You can disconnect the connector in each bag. If the sensor is grounded than the bike thinks the lid is open. If you remove the 8 screws holding the the latch covers on you will see the connector going to the two switches. Just disconnect it and your done. But I would try and find the problem. My guess is the latches or the switches need to be adjusted."

I am wondering if that is why all the circuits for the lamp & its switch were disconnected back there?

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the rear door latches & sensor or sensors?

Thanks,

Frisco
