Elio Motors

Looks like an interesting vehicle. Not a bad price. No info about motor. Decent warranty. Since they do admit it is classified as a motorcycle, I think we can safely assume everyone WILL need an M/C endorsment on their license. Which also means you will need to wear a helmet in a lot of states. Since the video never showed the head room with a helmet on, I would think this wouldn't be the vehicle for us big guys.

Very interesting vehicle. If they can build this thing for their advertised price it will be a hit for sure. Its not what most of would classify as a trike in terms of that open air, motorcycle riding experience, but it would be fun and a great commuter vehicle.

68 Hundred, ;) Was/Is the intended price, 2014/15 delivery.
I'll believe it when i see it,
But if they can pull it off, I'll be first in line.
But i definitely won't give them a thousand dollar deposit now, like their asking for.

The helmet requirment maybe it's big challenge...I like it but need more info, I thought the Stallion would have been more excepted... so I will hold for a bit....$ 6800.

Very interesting vehicle to say the least.. The price point is great to get into the market with. Sounds too good to be true in a way. I wish them the best of luck getting it to be successful. Go USA !!!!...ThumbUp

I saw a article about how theres a Elio on display the next couple days in Cincinnati, Ohio. Trying to test the waters on interest and raising money no doubt.

Elio is in the commercial market as a high efficiency vehicle. Test reports are good and the trend seems to be the wheels forward trike style. Yamaha is coming out with a 3 wheel trike / scooter this year and Polaris is moving into the wheels forward trike market with a automobile similar to the Elio.
It seems to be the new more logical direction.

Elio is featured on the www.reversetrike.com website. There are some interesting documents and test data on various three wheel cars and motorcycles on that site.

A friend has a $100.00 deposit on an orange one.
The more you put down the higher up on the list you go. Said they are due out in 6 months to 9 months.

According to my friend. The pro type has a Geo metro motor in it. There is a newly designed 3 cyl for it. It has power windows and A/C. Speed good out at 100 0 to 60 about the same as the old VW or the new Smart Car. Won't win any stop light races. MP g sounds impressive I heard 60. Will be great if in real world it averages 50. I would like to put a. $5,000 deposit on one.

( that would put me high on the list ) get it drive it and the. Sell it on E Bay for $8,000. Unless the really pump them out some people with low deposits are going to be waiting a year if 2.

OK these guys are awesome! Elio motors that is. I first saw this car on reversetrike.com as my trikes are featured along with Pauls.
As it turns out I reserved a booth at SEMA for November and the Elio booth is right next to mine.
I am all excited about their product and will be exchanging info and looks as much as possible.
I think they are onto something and to date have pre-sold over 22,000 units.

Actually John, you can only put a max reservation of $1000.00. They will not accept any more than that. If it is a non-refundable deposit of $1000.00 you will get a production number assigned a that time. There are also Refundable deposits and they will fall in line after all the non-refundable levels once production is about to start. Go to eliomotors.com and read all about it or Like them on facebook.

It is also engineered to get 84 mpg Hwy/49 mpg City. Price = $6800.00

IAV is designing the motor and have their first block casting done and probably more by now.

Yea I know been reading on it for a few months. Did not read there was a limit on the deposit. Every time I see a picture it looks different. Makes me wonder what the real one will look like. Many have made claims they were hoping to produce such a car. Corbin had one in almost production ( electric and gas model ) Sparrow.
claim it is still alive and well

Polaris industries is doing a RT side by side model as are other manufactures. It appears the small, light wheels forward high efficiency cars may be a big market for the current and future commuter segment.
Let's face it 80mpg is a big deal if you commute daily. Think of all the gas you can put in your 32mpg motorcycle if you save that much driving a car.

The finished Elio will have a 3 cylinder 1000cc 55hp engine but can do 100mph and 84mpg highway. (not both at the same time)

ThumbUp FYI ... I sat in one today and it was comfortable and very easy entry and exit, nicely appointed. If it comes to a mall or venue near you I believe it should be on your to do list for a first hand look and touch. :LooksGreat:
