A few Maggie Valley Gathering 2016 Pics

What a great week of good riding, good weather, and super folks we met. We didn't take a lot of pictures, we were too busy riding, lol. The first day we rode the Rattler with a stop for ice cream of course!!! No people pics as I know how I am with our mugs out on the web.

Next day was the 'Tail of the Dragon' and the 'Cherohala Skyway' a really nice 232 mile round trip with a lot of twisties, 2Paps, DblTrbl and the Misses and I were the only trikes that went, none of us had run the Dragon before. Had to get a picture of the 'Tree of Shame' at Deals Gap, a lot of bike parts off of those that didn't make it thru the Dragon in one piece.

Stopped on the Cherohala for some hydration at this place, they were saying due to the lack of rain this summer the wells are drying up, they had to have a couple of porta-pottis installed.

A couple of old school scoots, a pan head and a shovel head that I liked at the Geico Hot Bike Tour.

The Blue Ridge Parkway and a waterfall we came across on the last day we rode before heading for home.

Looked like an awesome ride! Thanks for sharing your travels...had one question, there seems to be a Trike-chariot in one your first pictures in front of the yellow car, did a double take going what the?? That's quite the unique set up, you have any close up's or know that rider? ...caught me by surprise ! :xzqxz:

Love Maggie Valley .... lots of good roads, beautiful area all around ..... wish I could see clear to spend a week down there this Fall. In 1962 when I was 8 we spent our vacation there at the "Abbey Inn" up near the lookout. Been back a few times, always so nice.

Just an opinion .... but that Dragon is just a crooked and over rated dangerous road with too many inept riders playing "Roger Racer" so we avoid it like the plague. That motel at the end ... is the only motel in my 62 years that I've ever gone to my room in .... and then returned to the office and gotten a refund and left. But then if you are an old "car" or "road trip" type movie fan, "Two Lane Blacktop" ended there as well.

I asked several people doing the rattler ride to please bring me back a strawberry three dip ice cream cone and for some reason no one managed to hook me up ... they looked at me like I was asking the impossible, said something about it melting before they got back :Shrug:

However, Zammy came through and brought me some in a styro cup. Zammy the problem solver ThumbUp

I would'of but the warden limits my ice cream intake and I had already reached my quota. I had a pack of cheese crackers and a Powerade Zero if you recall.... took a lot of willpower to stare in that ice cream case and not indulge myself.

John, Marc is 43 years old. He will not fully appreciate the importance of ice cream until he has ripened a bit. I like Marc and we need guys like him to keep our average group age out of triple digits.

Nope.Just playin with Zook.I honestly would have joined but didn't feel well and figured heat,a slightly upset stomach,and ice cream might be a bad combo.That and i've broke myself from it for the most part in support of the wife.If I had known Zook would be in need I could have packed a small cooler to keep his ice cream semi intact.
