OK I belong to another HD site and I was informed that most of the NEWER bikes could have a problem. The spark plug WIRE in the front cylinder might be rubbing on your gas tank. Some guys have already noticed that its rubbing the paint off the gas tank and rubbing the wire also . Not sure if its going to be a recall or maybe a dealer FIX IT !. I put a piece of clear tubing around my front plug wire and its a tight fit so the plastic can move up or down. NO one can see it anyways right now. Not sure how this is going to play out. But that's what some of us have done till we find out more. RickThumbUp

It started earlier than that. Ted aka Gorilla, I'm pretty sure had that issue on his Champion trike while on a long road trip. Correct me if I am wrong Ted.

Yes I did but my issue of the wire rubbing was my own fault. I had replaced the wires and when I put the tank back pinched one and after about 5k miles it wore through enough to start shorting out. When I took the tank off I saw where I had not run the wire like I should have. Did not identify the poor running bike cause until I pulled the tank. This was on a 2007 HD Road King with a modified 6 gallon tank installed by me. The issue can come up on any bike if the wire gets caught between the tank and the frame side.

Will check mine pre ride today. Going out on a limb here but thinking tank lift I put on will have negated this problem if I did have it.

Ok as far as I know its from a while ago on most touring models. It's NOT NEW but some have never heard of this before. I have a 14 tri Glide and some friends have other models with the same issue. It's worth a look for you to do this before it rubs thru your wireor your paint. Sorry I didn't make this more clear yesterday but I was in a hurry to get a hold of some of my friends across the country. I cut a piece of clear tubing and stuck it around my spark plug wire. It's a real snug fit so its' not going any place any time soon. I've talked to guys from Mi, Minn, Fla, Texas, Calif, Ill, Wis, New York, Ohio, and NONE of them heard about this old issue . I posted this to help anyone that doesn't know about this issue and get it fixed. Going to talk to the shop where we go to this Saturday and see what he knows about it.

I don't care what year you have Bend your old assets down and take a look at your bike.

NOT everything has to go to the "DEALER" to get fixed :D. I hope I helped at least one of you today. Good luck and RIDE SAFE ThumbUp.........Rick

Thanks for the "OLD" thread. LOLOL It reminded me to check my new Tri. Don't understand why people have to be negative about "OLD" posts when it can help NEW people. Thanks again Rollin for the reminder.

I checked my new 16 tri yesterday and it was rubbing. I just split a piece of rubber hose and 2 zip ties and done. Good to hear these things on here. Thanks

By the time I had checked the 15 Ultra it was over a 1/3 through. Did the same as you & went to dealer they replaced the wire. Checked the 16 Tri & it is not doing it

YES I understand that their are a few out there that are always looking at the Negative part instead of saying that's a good idea to past on so some New people can see it. I contacted friend from Arizona to Mi, to Minn, Texas, Fla, Calif, Washington. New York and NONE of them Knew or heard about it. Thanks PosseRider.....Rick

Well, late to the partee now, this may have been an OLD thread/issue, but this is the first I've heard of it....guess I'll check the '13 TG. Wouldn't my service tech check the spark plug wire when they installed new plugs at 25K? Thanks Rollin.

Corrected on my 2014 within a few weeks of initial purchase with a slit piece of fuel line.
Old news to me ... but great to let the new owners know about the potential problem.
