Riding the BRP, 151 & 276 at the Maggie Valley Gathering

On 9-5-16 nine of us, on 5 trikes, decided to do a bit of exploring...this was before the Maggie Valley Gathering was in full swing.

Heading out....

...it was not long before we were on the Blue Ridge Parkway (BRP). The views are fantastic!

The road is great, a look ahead...

...the company is great, a look behind.

One of many scenic pull-outs...

...This one is at the highest point on the BRP.

We're blocking the view. :laugh:

There were Five Trikes, including us...we pulled out in patriotic order- RED, WHITE & BLUE.

BRP never fails to provide great views!

There were more than a few tunnels that we rode through.

...looking ahead.

We turned off the BRP to take the 151 up into Asheville for a late lunch.

This IS A FUN road...

...I knew right away I was going to be riding this again.

On the straight part of 151 now, headed toward lunch.

We had a great time at lunch, good food, great company, and not a single pic!

Headed back to Maggie Valley, via the 151...

...and then the 276.

Both the 151 and 276 begged me to ride them hard. Mary is working on editing down some video of them. Should have them on youtube before too long.

Back at the motel. I knew, before we left, that the rubber isolator for my horn was weak/about to give way. That is why I packed a new one on this trip. After getting back to the motel I did a little rocking chair/parking lot replacement. All is good to go!

I got Caught in a heavy rain on BRP .So I decided I would take 151 down to a lower elevation .... Man that was a tense ride on a FLTK. Riding 2 up

Being an East TN kid, I miss the green and the mountains. I grew up in Madisonville, TN, just a few miles from the dragon. I usually go back that way each year. Next spring the triglide will be part of the trip. Jim

Wife and I live 20 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway between two separate entrance points and just under an hour from southern end of the Skyline Drive .... and we've been enjoying it way before we ever met with our own families even and we never tire of either one, but especially the BRP. Our Honeymoon started at Peaks of Otter Lodge. Have done it all countless times in all sorts of weather, sun, rain, fog, mist, even snow back before they put all them dangblasted gates up. Drove a police car for 30 miles on it one full moon night after a 3-4" covering of snow had fallen that day and no tracks ..... looking for a caller who claimed to be stuck on CB radio ..... GORGEOUS. Was on the same section as you just in June.

And after all that .... here I am enjoying your pics as if I had taken them myself ....
