redneck rascal

Thats a cool trike for sureThumbUp
Now all he needs is chains on the rear tires, & a ski in place of the front wheel, & he's got a year round playtoy!!!

that's a model T steering gear, not model A.......planetary gear reduction maybe 3 or 4 to 1 depending on yr. seemed a little too lightly built for a steering gear on a road trike...I do think a heavier planetary reduction could work on a short wheelbased trike. maybe, on my next one!! larry

I have always wanted to build a Electric Trike

I built several electric trikes in fl and registered them as mopeds. I had one with two mars 48 volt motors with a 500 amp programmable controller. I ran it on 60 volts (5 deep cycle marine) and that sucker was quick. About 25 mile range and loads of fun.

diver .....here's hoping you can post some pics of your electric trikes. 60v /500a that's some serious power! the redneck rascal, is just the rear end of a 3 wheel golfcart 36v with homemade front. good for buzzing around the yard.....kids have fun with it. larry

I will look and see if i can find pictures.. I had a mars motor driving each back wheel and had the programmable controller to control amps at full throttle to came in gradually or it would flip up and over lol. To register as moped i had to add a chain sprag sprocket so it could be peddled and legal. I also built several 72 volt hub drive trikes also. top speed of those was 45 but still a lot of fun around town. Also in florida electric trikes and bikes are allowed on rails to trails. . I would still be in florida if i did not get sick.. but that is life lol
..............here is a super forum if one is into electric power bikes and such https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=21

hi, here is a link of one... back in 2005 one could buy brush motor for 400.oo from the manufacture..... http://www.thunderstruck-ev.com/motenergy-brushless-ii-pmac-me0913.html

A hub motor is built into the wheel here is a link https://www.electricbike.com/cromotor-monster-hubmotor/

They are the easiest for converting a bike to electric by adding to front or rear wheel.. and use lith batterys

thanks diver

checked out the 3 links......impressed with the motors, controllers and batterys on these electric bikes....expensive and powerful....could see their use for city commuting.....out here, its a long way to anywhere, plus 30 below and snow...maybe that's why they are new to me! so as someone suggested ....ski's and chains for the redneck rascal..... took the last winter trike for a short ride this afternoon.....will be the last nice day for a while. larry
