Really starting to warm up to the M8 the more tech articles I read on it. Having said that, my Christmas wish for the new '18 MY intro at the Aug dealer show is for IRS on the Tri Glide. If that happens, my '16 is history.

I have read a lot of the same tech articles. Also my life long friend builds custom HD engines (some of the fastest and strongest engines around in our area) at his shop and he has high hopes for the new M8 design.

You will love it Mike ThumbUp and I am excited for you. As you know we love the performance and feel so far of our M8 keeping our fingers crossed for a long dependable life on our 2017 Tri Glide. :clapping:I hope the M8 turns out to be a reliable long term HD success without any big changes or retrofits. There have been some teething pains as you know. Every year even with there long term run on twin cams there are issues with a small percentage of the engines we normally don't hear about. These engines are assembly line put together by people (hate to say it but people make mistakes). There for a certain percentage of errors will be maid hopefully a small percentage.

We all hope we did not get a bike or an engine that was assembled on Monday morning or a Friday afternoon or right before a Union strike at HD if you know what I mean...Lol

Only thing really holding me back is the IRS. I really would like to see it on the Tri Glide. I am sure that for Harley it is a cost thing. Meaning that their focus groups have indicated no desire on the part of the average buyer to swallow the extra cost IRS would entail.

I hear ya Mike. I myself would be really surprised if they go IRS but way stranger things have happened. The average retail cost of $34000 to $38000 on the trikes would go up for sure and these trikes are pretty darn expensive as they are for most if not all of us. I am sure like you said HD has looked at this and there focus groups have taken the cost and market conditions into consideration big time.

On another note,

It would be really nice though if they would re-do the older air shock design from the factory on the rear shocks and take that into consideration as a change moving forward on the 2018 models.

Ride Safe, :)

I'm with you and Bill. If they add an IRS, I look for the ticket price to go over $40K. Unfortunately that's something I'll never be able to afford. It would be nice though.

Probably so. But where I'm in the position that I have to make monthly payments, anything more than what I'm paying now would be insane.

Back in 75-? i bought a new Mercury fully loaded top of the line station wagon' And after i made the deal i apolized to the salesman for giving him such a hard time over the price... I said to him ; In my wildest dreams i would have never thought i would pay 58 hundred dollars for a car.. :xzqxz:

What if they go the reverse trike route they had on the drawing board years ago? That would even get my attention. I prefer a reverse trike. I just don't the boxy look all of them have except the Spyder RT types. Even BRP went to the boxy look on the Spyder F3. But if Harley went reverse trike I'd be taking a test ride real quick. I don't have much more time on 2.:(

I really like the improvements that my 17 has over my 16,with that said I dont think IRS would be enough to make me trade up.Now if they come out with a Road Glide trike that would probably be the one thing that would make me trade.

What is IRS? (I suspect independent rear suspension). What is the big deal.....I'm anal retentive:AGGHH:

Each rear wheel is independent of each other.. Make for a smoother ride when hitting sharp bumps...My opinion the trade off is when cornering the back end leans a little more than i like.. Just my Opinion others will differ..

Oh yeah .......... An RGUTG ............... :clapping: I'd be all over that. In fact, after my conversation with Bazooka the other day, if Harley keeps dragging its feet on this subject, I may trade the trike for a RGUnext year. Then take the RG to Bazookas shop in Conroe for the conversion.

Ride one. Once you do, you will discover why all the conversions have gone IRS. A solid beam rear axle is so last century. Even Ford finally ditched it on the Rustang.

Xmas present

After the IRS thing , I would like a Milwaukee M12 jacket. Saw this in Home Depot for $200. Sorry don't know how to do the go to part

Evidently, you can't get one : "Due to federal regulations, this product can only be shipped within the continental US. Express delivery not available" :D

My Cabalas heated jacket died after 3 + years' So I've been looking at them [M12] on the Come-puter, But I'm a hands on guy, Just like when i go to the clubs, And Home-depot doesn't have them in the store just delivered to them.... Im still a stone age type of buyer...The 200$ is just one battery' And if i got the jacket i would get an extra battery..
69$ Cheep at half the price if they work:Shrug:. My plug-in Tourmaster Synergy which i bought back in the last Century is still going strong..But i like to have a battery one for short rides...

Glad I don't need all that stuff. Where I live, there is no such thing as a short ride to the corner store for coffee and breakfast. It's a 20 mile ride.

The Mac tool man here has them with a xtra battery for $260 in 2x. Fit real good and not a bulky fit at all with heavy sweat shirt. Still trying to convince myself I need it. Maybe Texas was deleated from the US

I went on the Home Depot website and looked at the M12 jackets. All I could think about was battery issues in cell phones and hoverboards. Not sure I want to surround myself with wires front and back:AGGHH:

I was saying that tongue in cheek, what with you being in NY. At least you're not in the Bronx .............:AGGHH: Dad's family is from Elmira. Somewhere in my computer files are pictures of the old house. I vaguely remember it. I was 6 the last time we were up there before the grandparents relocated to FL.
